Doesnt make it right! Aug 19, 2007
Yesterday I drove behind a swanky new Range Rover Sports. Fully tinted of course. Had special antenna and stuff. Had a normal Abu Dhabi plate.

Offense 1: Did not indicate when turning (but whats new right)
Offense 2: Parked in a handicap lot (nothing new either)

I was curious so as I walked by and looked at the car. From the front windscreen, its got all the spotlights, radio and gadget stuff. A cop car !! And he sure doesnt look like a handicap when he got out of the car!!

thats weird it couldnt be a cop unless he is wearing the uniform.....it could be a guy who loves gadgets :D

i still think he should be beaten to near death, concord....my theory would work dont you think?

what i know is that the undercover police would ride a corolla or a lancer, whichever the police can afford. As for a Range Rover there would be no point, expensive and not very sneaky

Not sure. It has an Abu Dhabi car plate on.
Too suspicious for a guy who loves gadget.
It has the "marine antenna" on the roof of the car. Massive spot lights on the dashboard. Intercom radio (the sort just like the cop car on telly) near the steering wheel.

I think I saw the same car at DG Sharaff / Time Square. Also parked in a handicap spot.

It had one of those siren things mounted inside the front window, with the flashing lights, definitely a cop car or perhaps wannabe cop.

Hmmm, never heard of a Range Rover cop car. The new undercover moving radar cars are Chevy Tahoes, as far as I've figured out. But then again, it's an AD plate and they have no jurisdiction here. Might be an escort car for a sheikh.

Hehe, I edited my previous post. I think it's a bodyguard car for some sheikh out on a joyride.

Awesome - sounds like a good gig, get to drive around hassling handicap people and making their lives more difficult.

also watch out for the black mazda crossover (cx-7??) when coming to dubai from abu dhabi. its hiding behind some construction site on SZR, right when you enter into jebel ali. maybe to catch the AD drivers who forget to slow down to 140kmph from about 180+++ :D

Hehe, CX-7 not sold here, but I think I know what you're talking about. They are Mazda 6 station wagons, and I've seen them too.

Emirates Road does have temporary 80 kph limit signs for construction, but they removed all the cameras. No place to put them.

Now if the guy is not a cop and has all that "cop wannabe" stuff on the dashbord then he is entitled to park in the handicap spot no violation there. Reason: he is retarded.

About not signaling; Bleakus is right - get those bats out.

interesting how you guys realize such things, i wouldnt care if someone is parked in the handicapped area (like you said, nothing new).

The car might be a police car but the police would be off duty (as AD police cant be on duty in Dubai) and they do get fined just like everyone else..

You would if you were a handicapped person who needed the spot and some able-bodied bastard took the spot. Count your blessings then.

I have asked people to not park at handicapped spaces more than once, you know how much trouble i got in even though i was right?

Some people act as if they didnt know its a handicapped parking and move, others ignore (which is fine sometimes), but SOME people start shouting and would just waste 10-15 mins of your time to tell you to mind your own business..

But looking into the car to see whats inside and the number plate, doesnt help does it?

perhaps someone in the FC can start a squad ... called "operatus car spy" or something. Bleakus can be the team leader and put Tania in perfect use!!

maybe the problem is with Dubai Police, if they tow away the cars that park at handicapped spaces, no one would even think of parking there, maybe someone can suggest that idea to them..

I once saw these cars turn on strobelights within their headlights and sirens.

I think they are some sort of undercover cops :?

I simply think he is just another idiot ….

But I never knew that cops spend that much to actually have this expensive car for one of their staff….

theres a black hummer undercover police car parked inside the airport tunnel placing a mobile radar infront of his car back when the 3 radars still weren't installed there. pretty funny you can see that hummer a mile away and know already that theres a radar there.

i would think that the police would have a better taste in cars than a hummer  (no offence to the hummer drivers)
