The radio news interview
Lets say you are a media gatekeeper for a local council. There has been a storm crisis with major damage in your local area as a result of storms.
It is 6.00 am in the morning and a local radio breakfast show newsroom has rung you for a comment.
This is what they will want
1 .. What is the extent of the damage?
2 .. When the damage will be cleared up?
3 .. Has anyone been injured or killed?
4 .. Will the storms continue?
But the media in this situation will not want longwinded answers.
Media Training teaches you to answer the reporter’s questions from a radio newsroom, particularly early in the morning with short succinct answers or grabs.
The reporter will be on thirty-minute deadlines as well, so no chit chat about anything else that is not relevant, the media will not want this.
