I'd definately suggest a trip to the 'Ibn Battuta' shopping mall, to anyone coming to Dubai. It's my favourite mall by far.
At one end there is a 'Fitness First' gym on a mezzanine level, and opposite it, is a great musical instrument shop. This is often missed, as people think the upstairs is only a gym.
