Attested/legalised

Hi,

From what I understand my highest (university) educational certificate has to be attested/legalised. The UAE embassy has informed the following steps should be taken-

1) certificates signed by a solicitor
2) legalised by the Foreign Commenwealth Office (in London)
3) processed by the UAE embassy (in London)

Does anyone know if I am able to use photocopies of my University certificate (accompanied with the original) signed and stamped, or do they request the originals written on? If possible, I would prefer not have my originals scribbled on.

Thanks

I dunno about rules for UK citizens, but for Indians it surely has to be te original ones, They take off the lamination(if laminated) off the back and stamp on the back.

Cheers,
