No matter what was said to Zidane, he should have dealt with it afterwards. To take the action he did was nothing short of pathetic and a terrible black mark on an otherwise impressive career.

There's never any excuse for violent conduct and there was certainly some silly things going on in some matches.

I dont want to defend Zidane .. but you guys need think about the immense pressure at the point in the game and then a slime ball like materazzi (not because of the zidane but something i think even italians will agree with) .. insulting you. HP when you have never played football at any level how in the world can you call what Zidane did stupidity. Zidane would not have risked a red card in the biggest game in his life, especially his last game without an insult he no longer could take...Know Zidane has experienced rascism all his life growing up in French public housing or ghettos, playing in the two most rascist ligas in Europe Italy and Spain..no way is Zidane going to react to being called terrorist, nah this Italian piece of shit called called him something much worse...something that would make someone risk glory and fame for honor, pride and family..and respect Zidane for putting his honor, dignity and family ahead of trophy. I tried but I guess my "point" was missed. I know Zidane's history and also believe that he would be treated otherwise but for the fact that he is a world class footballer. The point was that saying that calling someone a a terrorist is not a "racial slur". IRA members were (or are) Terrorist, Tamil Tiger's are (or were) terrorists, 9/11 bombers were terrorist, today's explosions in India were (likely) by terrorists (likely indian/pakistani). This are example of four groups of terrorist from 4 races! Thus the word "terrorist" does not define a race but it obviously does to you (which was my point exactly).

Zidane in my opinion is top2 to ever play the game.

1. Maradona...No one dominanted the game the way he has.

2. Zinedan Yazid Zidane... he is simply the best player to ever come out of Europe.

3. Pele...he is legend, but he is bit overrated when compared to Maradona and Zidane who were both better footballers than pele.

4. Romario... what he did in 94 world cup equalize to what Maradona did in 86 and what Zidane did in 98...total dominance.

5. Ronaldo...People who watched Johan Cruffy and Van Basten would say they are better, but I have watched Ronaldo the past 12 years and when Ronaldo is at his best there is no striker in history of Football that equal to him...he simply the best scorer to ever play the game.

No Matter WHAT WAS SAID a bigger man would have just walked away and had those in charge deal with it later.

It is never acceptable to act the way he did. The Italian needs to be reprimanded for what he said, but doing what Zidane did he probably lost the match for France! It would have been better for him to ignore the pathetic Italian comments, and just get on and win the match.

David Beckham has had horrible things said to him about his family by other players, the crowds in the stands and the German press, did you ever see him losing his cool? No! He ignored it all and just got on with the job at hand.

The only people who will remember Zidane by this incident are people who don't know jack shit about football like you. For starters you said Beckham never lost his control, well what when he lost his cool the match against Argentina back in 98 world cup...have you forgotten that. Let me refresh your memory, Argentinian player took the ball cleanly from Beckham, Beckham being frustrated ran after him tried to break his legs by tackling him soo hard from behind...know every footballer is told never tackle a player from behind, unless you want to injury that player. Know England had good chance of winning the game since they were better team than Argentina up to that moment...and Beckham was arguably the best player on the. After Beckham recieved the red card England just lost the game. This is not the only time Beckham lost his cool, so choco please save bullshit.

Another thing you should know is that the greatest player ever Maradona was cokehead, he fought on the field, he cheated, but none of that diminishes what he achieved as footballer and people who know football will always remember him as the best not as cokehead...the same thing with Zidane, he will always be remembered as the best player in his generation and second all time best player ever.
