Have you been to vegas? Sep 25, 2011
In the 'spirit" of 'brides maid' and 'hangover' I've been invited to Vegas by a crazy bunch but I've never been...anyone?

Yeah I have been quite a few times and I have always had an excellent time. I stayed at the Hard Rock and would recommend it if you have a choice in terms of the ambiance of the bar which is huge and their pool party on Sunday called Rehab. Only bad thing about Vegas is the vast amount of oxygen they pump into rooms which means that you sleep (or at least that was my experience) for about 2 hours each night/morning. At the end of a few days you get loss of appetite and when you get to the airport you are out for the count. Anyway you will have a great time if you like nightlife and going out.

Well Ambassador, that was one of the stops on our vacation. Second time we have been there and I would go again. We stayed in a suite at Aria, which was very nice and there is a "sister" hotel - Vdara, which is not a "casino" hotel. All you have to do was take a brief walk over to Aria for the bells and whistles. :D and the night club. Also, Aria has wonderful restaurants if you like to eat well. But I guess you will be staying where the crazy bunch will be staying. :D It's a long trip - 16 hours to get to Los Angeles (assuming that is where you are going into) and then you will have to get a connection to Vegas.

Plenty of shows to go to and nightclubs. There is also an outdoor shopping outlet. Unfortunately when we went it was end of season and there wasn't much to chose from. If you like Coach there is an outlet with great prices. Most of what was in stock was branded, which I don't care for, but if they have leather handbags in stock you can get a great bargain. When you walk in make sure you get the additional discount coupon. You can save up to 70% on the sale price. All the other outlets are the usual with a few high end shops. Because of a toe accident (which was about 3 or so weeks ago so I think it was broken) I was not able to get around much and as the day went on I became more miserable. Not fun for me or Mr BB.

Hubby and I aren't "gamblers" but the few times I played I did well. Texas Hold Em put me up $300, which went right back into the machines.

We drove from Santa Monica to Vegas which was a great, and drove back to Hollywood. If you do go there is a restaurant called "Diablo" - great food and great drinks!!!! It's on the street behind City Center just past the Monte Carlo.

I'm sure you will have a fun time. Play all night, sleep all day. And don't forget: What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!!!!

Never been to Vagas, Ambassador, I've never really fancied it.

But my eldest daughter got married there a few years ago and she said it was ok but didn't go overboard.
She stayed at the Bellagio which she thought would be quite nice but says it wasn't a patch on Al Qasr in Dubai. She had to line up to check in and then walk what seemed like a million miles to their room with their cases.
The pool area was ok but because of the high rises meant it was in the shade most of the day, and you had to move round to catch the rays.
They turned up to get married by 'Elvis' and there was a delay so they were given free drinks vouchers to go across the road and get hammered prior to the wedding. She had warned her husband that if he got drunk the wedding wouldn't happen so he stayed perfectly sober whilst the champagne went to her head. After the wedding they went to an oxygen bar so that got rid of her headache, I think.
They have some nice wedding pictures of them standing in front of a wedding carriage decked in plastic flowers, although they look real in the pictures!

I hope you enjoy it Ambassador, but do watch the prositutes, male or female.

Been there once. Its an unique place I think. But wasn't really impressed. I wouldn't go back there. I am not much of a gambler and the casino's are highly overrated. Short trousers were apparently allowed. Everything is fake and artificial.

BM, you mean to say that you didn't go to your daughters wedding?

I am also going to be married by Elvis one day.

FD it's a playground!!! For a moment I thought you were referring to Dubai. :drunken:

Short trousers: as long as the pockets hold money they don't care!!! When we were there a boxing match was taking place Mayweather v. Ortiz. Saw alot of short trousers that were falling off the behinds of the "men" wearing them, along with the basketball shirts and their hats on with the brim sideways!!! (should have an emblem put on those hats that says "Duh!!) Apparently many of them had a foot problem as they all had on very expensive runners and walked with a slight limp. :drunken: Looked like there was a convention for basketball players or one for drug dealers/pimps. The hotels were fully booked. People paid serious money to see a head butt and a knockout in the 4th round.

Saw alot of girls with dresses on that fit like a sausage casing. 10 pounds of sugar poured into a 5 pound bag. held up by 6 inch heels. (Ermmmm, right up your alley???) It was funny watching them; every 4 or 5 steps wobbling in their heels or what appeared to be very sore feet, they were pulling their dress down as it was riding up over their backsides.

It seems that women like getting dressed up (even those in sausage casings) but the men look like they rolled out of bed having slept in their clothes (those not attending a convention ).

I am used that casino's have some class, including people visiting it and that there is a dress code. This was lacking completely in what I thought of the casino capital of the world, Las Vegas. It put me off.
