Palm Island Jebel Ali Sep 01, 2009
The Palm Jebel Ali is the middle-sized island of the three Palm Islands (Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali and Palm Deira). It is located on the Jebel Ali coastal area of the emirate of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The unique man-made palm-shaped island will consist of a trunk, a crown with 17 fronds, and a surrounding crescent island that will form a water-breaker.

The Jebel Ali Palm is more of an entertainment destination for both adults and children, which caters to both residents and tourists. The island will also be 50% larger than the Palm Jumeirah, and will include six marinas, a 'Sea Village', a water theme park and water homes built on stilts between the fronds and the crescent. Construction began on the Palm Jebel Ali in October 2002.

I have Palm Jebel Ali introduced to the world on www.visit-dubai.co.uk .

It is a highly expensive way of creating building land, but a wonderful concept IF it can be maintained .
The UAE has no choice now, but to really manage and maintain the three Palms and The World , but it will be mega-expensive.

What is the current situation with Palm Jebel Ali and Palm Deira?

Looks fun...

So at what rate is the first Palm sinking now? I think they have said that in the building of the second one they had corrected the errors they made in the first?

Is Palm Jumeirah sinking ?
That would be catastrophic. However, I always thought they were taking a hell of a risk in building so many heavy buildings out at sea on mere blown sand from the bottom of the sea. You would not normally wish to have loose blown sand as the base on which to build your home.
Mine is built on SOLID ROCK in Wales !!
With the natural currents in the Arabian Gulf , there must be huge problems in stopping the sea from eating away at the sand fronds.
Storms from the north and north-west, must be a huge problem.

Building "The World" must be even worse. They will SELL you an island of your own, but who PAYS to stop that little island from being eroded away by tide and storm over 50 years, say?
Extremely precarious place to build, I would have thought.

How much of "The World" is dredged , sold, and built upon ?
Unless MOST of it is complete, how do the others...the punters who have bought an island ......do business out in the middle of the Gulf?

It needs customers from neighbouring islands....and not a marine building site!
