Wow, the weather is going mental out there right now. I opened the balcony door to see the lightning and was hit in the face by the wind and rain, had to run back inside.

I also heard a few 'ohhhhs' and 'ahhhhs' from the Barasti as people were watching the lightning... then the rain hit and it was all screams as everyone ran for cover. haha! :-)

Same reaction when brits go all silly and goofy, start running around in circles and really at a loss at what to do when the see the sun in England

Once you get here and spend some time in 45+ temps. Even the sight of a far away cloud will give you wood !

Oh for goodness sake you guys! This happens EVERY year in Dubai! This weather is perfectly normal for this time of year.

Geez the hail storms I've seen in previous years have thrown down ice balls the size of a golf ball.

Get over it already!

Geez, what's the matter with you? Did you slip on a hailstone or something this morning?

No, but anyone would think this is a one off occassion. It is just the normal weather for this time of year, so really no need to get excited about it is there.

Sorry.

OK, everyone pack up. Choc says there is nothing to talk about. I'll just close this thread.

[ or maybe you should not post in threads where you think there is nothing to talk about. i.e. don't talk about it, lead by example]

Back on topic.

A concrete wall at work collapsed last night because of the wind. It was under construction and had obviously not been properly secured. Lucky it didn't kill anyone.

There was carnage in and around Ghantoot this AM. Plus the stretch of SZR road passed the Waterfront was hail stones/horizontally driven rain etc, fun to drive in.

Also, there were people stopping at the sides of the road to collect ice from the hailstones.

I am sure Captain Aussie saw all this too, awesome seeing the damage the hail had done to the trees, as it has totally covered a stretch of road to AUH in leaves.

The wind was intense last night.. toppled some young trees along Rigga/Muraqqabat.

Yeah, that was weird driving when the white lines of the highway were replaced by endless strips of leaves.

Saw that Minivan crashed into the tree too. Didn't look good. A friend said when he went past they were trying to cut the driver out with the jaws of life.

Oh, and the maniacs collecting/looking at ice? That's fine, but don't stop on the shoulder next to the fast lane to do it, idiots!?! My God that is dangerous.

You probably caught a few hailstones yourself also, Captain in the Mini!
Just look at that raggadee a$$ with grey beard just occupying that Mini Cooper Convertible.

Damn, you catch a lot of 'stones'. I bet you corner in the wind when you put your hand out with a bit of speed.... 8)

Well when we do have weather like this is normally goes to show how shoddy much of the workmanship is as things collapse, get blocked, flood etc - nice!
