No more automatic transers of DL's

Just heard that with effect from 1st january 2007, all expats holding DL's that automatically alowed them to transfer to a UAE one i.e. Brits, yanks etc, will NOT BE ALLOWED TO DO SO

This means that everyone will now have to sit the UAE DL test!

Can anybody confirm this?

So it'll be a bigger hassle for all of us who do have driver's licences from the States and Europe. In my opinion it was discriminatory to make those who have licenses from any continent/country aside from the special few do a driving test. Why should this be the case at all?? So we have a bunch of...

Ok, here we go: 1) dress as casual as you can cos it will get messy later in the day. Suggest t-shirts, shorts and trainers, 2) taxis are the best. I know that certain drinking establishments around town organise buses, but not 100% sure, 3) BP stand is the larniest and most boisturious of the two s...

Oh, sorry, I forgot to cover the "turning pink" bit. A hat is good, but you may lose it later on, also, sunnies are a must, but try and keep it to your cheap pair, you may end up losing them as well! All of this depends on how much beer you are drinking  Pink, why, thats a great briti...

Fayz,

been twice to the Dubai one, 2004 & 2005. The 2004 one was as described above, 2005 was more reserved in the hosptality Boxes, but sadly, I will not be going this year.

Also, went to 7 no. Hong Kong 7's events. They were far better, but Dubai is catching up quickly.

Obviously, the faster one travels, the great the down pressure on the rear spoiler therefore pushing the arse end of the car down onto the road. This will give you more grip. You may or may not have noticed that Porsche rear spoilers (in some cars) only appear when the car is travelling at higher sp...

Whats the point of giving up smoking when......

Anti-smoking guru Allen Carr has died of lung cancer at the age of 72. Mr Carr was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer in the summer. He was a heavy smoker with a 100-a-day habit before giving up over 20 years ago and making a name for himself helping others do the same. But friends say that the y...

I totally agree with you Chocs. It did get out of order from what I saw (sitting in the posh boxes). The 7's is not just a piss up, it is a family event and a lot of people do take their kids. I am glad that they have set up a family area, but one whole stand?

Noni,

Just search the internet for hotels in Dubai. There are plenty around, I mean it.

If you are going to be working on Airport Road, then may I suggest that you look for something in Deira area, Al Qusais, etc. You will sane a lot of time and money on taxis.
