Well, before you buy I'd suggest you search the net for any info or photos that you can. One thing a lot of people are talking about is the density of the housing since in the artists impression it doesn't give a true impression of the surroundings of the villa, only the villa itsself (this is true ...

That's right the shifting currents due to the palms are causing major errosion across dubai's beaches. Another issue is this thing called shelving (I don't know if that's the proper name). It's where if you dig up some sand then the rest of the sand around will fall into the hole you created. Also t...

:D

I don't know what that is. I only got these from the net, didn't take them myself.

Obviously already the project is far from perfect since many will be disappointed with how close the houses are together

The larger villas have a good bit of space but the smaller ones are quite close together. Look at the first picture at the houses near the top right

Glad you're so happy with your investment. I still think they're too congested though and although the quality may appear to be good you never know what'll happen a few years down the line, or during the next downpore

It's another tower development as per usual in Dubai and it'll consist of around 200 buildings. I still don't know why the hell they choose to build skyscrapers when there's more than enough space around to build smaller buildings which don't cost as much. I presume that when your labour costs amoun...

Architecture in Dubai!

I was wondering, is anyone interested in architecture here? Whenever I hear people talking about Dubai (I don't live in Dubai btw) all I hear is real estate, real estate, market crash, real estate, real estate, etc... Hardly anyone I know talks about how any of these new buildings going up will actu...

Re: Architecture in Dubai!

If anyone can tell me the premise or why they chose the style of architecture in a beachfront, I'd be interested to know about it. I don't know but I presume they were designed to be as cheap and as cost effective as possible, all function no aesthetics. Their positioning is pretty clever actually ...

Re: humanitarian

Yes. Dubai Humanitarian City is soon to be built. Temporary offices for now working out of the UNOPS depot. You're serious? There is going to be a Dubai Humanitarian City? :o Considering that Dubai is Abuse Central, I don't see the point of this.... Liban, you mean you haven't heard? Where on earth...

Re: Dubai + Culture

Don't you think Dubai needs more museums, libraries, book stores, cultural centers?...it is so lacking these qualities... No problem, Dubai will just spend 50b dhs building one ... The launch of Culture Village answers the need for culture and art to flourish in parallel, Dubai Properties CEO Hashi...

Guys, this is only a crappy drawing, plan view aswell so you can't see it properly. It's being designed by Zaha Hadid who's one of the world's best architects so it should be quite a sight if built.

Well, culture can mean anything which defines a certain place so I guess you could call bad driving part of dubai's culture

BTW, I think the architect designing the opera house is also doing a tower.

Property scams?

First of all, I don't know if this is the right section to post this so sorry if it isn't. Anyway, I'm sure a lot of people know about the lighthouse incident and it seems another one has fallen through aswell ( Dubai Star in the jumeirah lake towers). I'm thinking though, how many more will follow....

Just wanted to bring this thread back, these towers were released the other day. Designed by Zaha Hadid, she doesn't have a lot of stuff built and most of her work has been conceptual, these should be built though (if it's possible :) ) She's also designing an opera house here http://img156.imagesha...

One which I hate is one that's right beside chelsea tower, I think it's on the left, it's a typical tacky tower with bright red and blue colours and then roman columns at the bottom which don't match the rest of the tower at all. In the future it'll be the big ben replica

True, towers in the marina and on SZR are starting to look the same. In the marina tameer's newest building's pretty awful, it's the typical dubai kitsch design and the roof doesn't go well with the rest at all: http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/9980/eliterespz0.th.jpg There will be some great ones...

Yup, here it is. Apparently the DM told the developer to remove the clock and then they went and put up a mock model of the thing including the clock :violent1: Hopefully the idiots building this thing will run out of money or something while it's still at the foundation stage. http://img238.imagesh...

One more thing about the completion dates for ocean heights. Could you give me some milestone dates such as, when does the construction of the main structure start, or when roughly, will the tower be topping out? It's just that my friend hasn't been able to get his questions answered, mainly constru...

Piling should finish in about two months or so. The main contractor will then be awarded and construction work will start immediately.
