There are some good ones here, but all the stations are controlled, censored and playlisted so not a lot of freedom going.

103.2 The Coast hosts 2 of the old favourites in the shape of Rick and Daniel in the morning, who get away with murder, comparatively. They have been here for years and appeared on almost every network going so know the ropes and how far they can push the envelope.

There is Emma B on 104.8 Channel 4...she's cool!

Siobhan Leyden on Dubai Eye does all the girly chat stuff in the daytime.

Listen a little more and, once you get through the crap playlisting, you can hear some very professional people doing a very hard job.

As for Country music? You can shove it up your Western!

There is culture, but you may have to turn over a few rocks to find it...

Hi

guess what? we broadcast myexpatradio on the internet out of Dubai, we are an expat company here and we've got people like Rick and Dan from Coast on our radio too, plus Jeff Price from Dubai Eye, and the uncensored "Dan and Stan" and good music, 'cos we're English (OK, Dan is Canadian, I'll give you that). I'm not allowed by this forum to give you the web address. sorry. But it is really good!! we love what we do!! :D

I used to think there was an nice mix on Dubai 92 in that you had a mixture of heavily play listed shows and a few specialist shows. But at some point during or just after the summer they seem to have jettisoned all of the specialist shows and made the play list very samey. Most people I know who used to like the station have gone off it - they've gone for abandoning an old audience in search of a new one they aren't guaranteed to get. I doubt radio listeners are audited here so no one will tell if it works or not.

So now I usually just listen to a CD or burn a UK radio show from a torrent on to a CD. But I was listening to Saturday Sanctuary today on 92 and the DJ finished the show by slagging off his new boss and recommended another station if the audience wanted something more intelligent. Oh well, I like that programme but I guess he won't keep his job
