A question about Indian food May 26, 2010
I like Indian food, especially vegeterian (in fact I am a lacto vegeterian). But the fact is that many Indian restaurants do not serve pork meat, so I wonder is pork meat used in Indian cuisine?
A question for those who are familiar with this cuisine! :D

Vindaloo, a dish from Goa, is traditionally made with Pork - and whilst associated with India, it is actually influenced by Portuguese cuisine.

Mainly in Goan cuisine. Shafiqe was spot on, Portuguese influences.

Dishes would be Vindaloo, Sorpotel, Sausages, Balchao, Assado de Leitoa, Espetada......

That said I think there are Goan restaurants that do serve Pork dishes, but you definitely won't find the stuff in general Indian restaurants.
