Dubai: Dubai property watchdog Real Eastate Regulatory Authority (Rera) has released a new rental price index that sees rents drop by up to 50 per cent in some areas.

The new index appears in the form of a Rental Increase Calculator on Rera’s website.

Using the calculator, tenants and landlords can find out the maximum rental fee for specific areas, which is significantly lower than in previous years.

In The Springs, a three-bedroom villa should cost not more than Dh160,000, a 50 per cent discount on the previous guideline rent of Dh280,000.

In the Satwa area, the rent for a studio apartment has been set from between Dh40,000 to Dh50,000.

In Mirdif, the maximum rent for a studio apartment is Dh65,000.

The rent of a studio apartment in Greens has been set in the range of Dh55,000 to Dh70,000.

The maximum rent for a studio apartment in Jumeirah Beach Residence has been set at Dh90,000.

In International City, maximum rent for a studio apartment has been set at Dh45,000.

This is a welcome suprise...but how long will it stay this way?
