Use a software typing package on your computer - I learnt with "Typing Tutor" which was fine. I've seen better ones though.

Switch the lights off when you practice so you can't see the keys. Or cover your hands. You'll learn much faster - really! But you'll struggle to get very far in a week unless you do several hours a day.

Can't comment on Arabic typing, but I presume there must be Arabic software.

Keep a big stone on your heart, blind fold your self & simply do it.

Spread your hands over the keyboard as if you are a professional & then slowly begin stretching your fingers over the keyboard & u ll learn.

One best way is to keep chatting & you will learn typing really quick. :) thats how i did it years back when i was a kid

That's why you need to do something so you don't have the choice.

A typing program will teach you how to use all your fingers. I went from two to all easily enough. Go to download.com and see if there's one there to try. Or search for "Typing Tutor", they probably have a free trial.

... or ask at one of the computer course places if they do typing courses. All they'll do is sit you in front of a computer with a typing program though. But some people find it better in a classroom type situation.

Sarah

it is very simple, you have just to do the following....

1) Get a computer software, there is one called MAVIS i think it was very trivial this one that gave me the boost.... i bet there are much advanced ones these days.

2) if you decided to do the hard way... here are some tips

a) use your index fingers (hope i figered out the right way) or should i use the one we use during Shahada (if you are muslim, i think you are, you will know them) to indicate the small indicator on the (F) using the left hand finger and the (J) using the right hand finger
b) start to know the positiong of the same letter in the same line. soo left hand (a,s,d,f) right hand (j,k,l,;)
then start to learn to move your hand one line up, then on eline down.

well, you should be able to do the rest.

But just get (donwload) typing program, i might send you free one if i found it.
I'll search when i go home.

cheers and good luck

To learn Touch Typing, you start with a "home position", to which your fingers will always return after typing any key. The diagram below shows which keys are associated with each finger.

The "QWERTY" Keyboard Layout The standard keyboard layout was designed to keep the keys from jamming on early manual typewriters. By assigning the most commonly used letters of the alphabet to different fingers, the chance of jamming was reduced.

Left Hand Home Position Put your left index finger on the "F" key. The other fingers fall naturally onto the D, S, and A keys.

Right Hand Home Position Put your right index finger on the "J" key. The other fingers fall naturally onto the K, L, and semicolon keys.

Reminder Bumps On many keyboards, the F and J keys have a small raised bump to remind you when your index fingers are on the right keys. Look to see if these are available on your keyboard.

Don't Look! A basic principle of touch-typing is that you never look at your fingers when you are typing. This takes practice, so don't get discouraged if you have trouble at first.

Typing Drill Open your word-processor program and type the sentence "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog". It contains every letter in the alphabet and is a great way to become familiar with the keyboard. Once you can type it comfortably, try these additional exercises:
Type it without looking at your hands?
Type it with a capital letter at the start of each word
Type it in all capital letters, but without using the "Caps Lock" key.
How many times can you type it correctly in one minute?
