I find dhikr helps me stay in check however, when one is tried and tested many times in a day, its so hard to stay calm and happy! But I love how Islam-and faith in general- gives us the ability to hope and soldier on. I cant imagine what my life would be like without faith! Alhamdulllillah. Please ...

Sounds about right. Unfortunately though, Hamas isn't doing itself favours by propelling rockets left, right and centre. The problem with Israel is its killing innocent civillians and still using the past as its shield. It's made the world believe that 13 Israeli lives are worth more than 1000 Pales...

I just saw the art and I think its awesome-I guess its throwing a metaphorical two fingers up at political correctness in a way as well. With regards to freedom of speech/expression, I am all for it but there is no such thing. My definition of the term is: the ability to say what you want and you fe...

Muslimbangladeshi, I understand your issues, but you're really coming across as a bigot-I duno tho, maybe that's what you were going for. With regard to the beach couple-yes they were totally sloshed and were doing it- and if you knew much about the story-the UAE HAD actually given them a jail term....

LOL at UAE kid! Its so true!! Alot of my friends in England wear hijab and while at Uni, mainly English people would be TOTALLY shocked that they had English accents or that they were confident and outgoing. I guess in that sort of (uni) environment, many people are the first in their family to go t...

But they appealed, and the fact that they were away from their homes, and it was Christmas time, I guess the appeal was granted(also, this is how the law works alongside justice). This is actually the UAE showing its sympathetic side. It frees small time prisoners during Eid and Ramadan. It looks s...

Actually thats true, and not so long ago, some of them were Jews. Needless to say, all original Palestinians-regardless of religion-did not agree with the occupation of Israel

Where are all the normal Muslims in Dubai?

Hey all, I was just wondering why all my friends are English? Okay, so that's my first language and England's my main home---but ever since I moved here, I don't seem to hang out with any Muslims. Apparently, its my fault, because I cant be arsed hanging out with people with extreme views. I mean, I...

Dont know abt black, but Barack "Hussein" Obama is certainly the first Muslim president of US (acknowledged or otherwidse). Barack Obama is not a Muslim, he is quite clearly a Christian, he goes to Church and believes in Jesus as the Son of God. Because he was born into a Muslim household...

I don't think people look down on atheists, from what I've seen around, I guess the ones who believe in something feel sorry for those who don't---after all where do people with no faith turn when the chips are down? Whether or not God exists, for people who believe, all's not lost---whatever happens.

Re: Where are all the normal Muslims in Dubai?

I used to hang out with this guy who's lived in Dubai all his life, and one day because he thought I would understand presumably, he told me he hated anyone even remotely camp and wanted to kill them all. Needless to say, we haven't hung out since then. Where are all the normal Muslims in Dubai? A &...

Bonk, I used concerts as an extreme example, I don't attend concerts or go clubbing and haven't done since I took up this way of life. I was trying to make a point. And I do have (my definition) of normal muslim friends, girls and boys---just not here in Dubai. And that was my question, Where are al...

I agree with Rudeboy on the fact that I wouldn't also class people who go clubbing, drink alcohol (whether or not to get intoxicated) or go out with non-muslims as actual Muslims. These guys shouldn't even be praying

I know alot of westerners who have felt this way---pre-credit crunch. I guess not everyone has access to the real parts. There was a letter in the newspaper recently which said in the real 'old' Dubai, there were camels who'd walk freely and eat from the trash in Satwa, while green parrots roamed th...

Religion isn't just about believing or not believing in a god, it is about all kinds of habits and practices as well, and there are conflicting customs and writing in texts about some of these practices - so there is no way religion can be black or white, like how you make it seem to be. I dont kno...

Am I just completely old-fashioned? I mean, why look around for a girl or guy? Surely, the right person will just come along, right?
