Just a week after I converted my license to UAE's a year ago, I rented a car from a reputable company with no problem. I (and the rent company) didn't bother the insurance. After all, it was through my previus company (corporate reference). Probably you should try to rent it through your company. PS...

By the way, what is required in terms of paperwork nowadays to rent a car? I need one too right now. Last month I rented a car from reputable rental company, I got reference from my company (my company is renting few cars already from them) so it's a bit easier. They need only copy of passport (+re...

Re: Jakarta

well, mall-hopping is one activity you could do . malls are smaller than what you find in Dubai. I'm sure you know how big Taman Anggrek mall is ;) For the length, I admit Ibn Battuta or MOE are lengthier. But with 7 storeys, in square meter Taman Anggrek is larger. Additional to JeepDude's i...

You can come here first under visit visa (e.g. sponsored by hotel you'll be staying) as most of people do. Search for jobs while you're in Dubai for duration of visit visa (max 2 months). However, this would cost you a lot (air ticket, accommodation).

here is a fun fact the Saudi stretch between the UAE and Qatar is actually originally part of Abu Dhabi: In August 1974 the two sides signed in Jeddah an agreement stating that Riyadh will give up demands on al-Breimi oases, while on the other side, Abu Dhabi gave up Khour al-Adeed which includes a...

Bad service from Gulf Air and Al Futtaim Travels

One month earlier (November), we bought (not only booked) 3 tickets (each 1900 AED return) for last end of year vacation back to my home country (Indonesia) through Al Futtaim travels (head office) using Gulf Air. Sage , thanks. Asc_26 , we had not many options as we always choose airlines giving the most efficient schedule (e.g. overnight flights/connecting) to maximize our tight planned vacation days, and second off course would be the lesser fare. It was either Gulf Air or Yemenia Air. I was thinking to s...

I've been dreaming this car for so long

Ever since I was in elementary school, I had a dream to have a metallic/chrome-plated car (brand/type is not important). Now I see it. The difference is that it is not only plated but MADE IN SILVER. It happens to be Sheikh Zayed's. Now I wonder, how much do you think to get a car fully chrome-plate...
