I am seriously considering a job offer in Dubai and have been reading many facts from this forum. There is a lot to read and digest. However, this thread on alcohol is not particularly clear to me. What is this "Hole in the wall" that people have mentioned? What is involved with getting a ...

Thanks for the quick reply. :D What is this "hole in the wall" in Ajman? Is it a designated liquor store for expats? How can you use this "hole in the wall"? I guess you can not just turn up and by a few crates of beer! Is Ajman in the UAE or does it require a border crossing? A ...

Something to bear in mind when applying for a Dubai drivers licence.

If you have an entry stamp from anther Emerate they will not process and issue a drivers licence. This happened with me as I had an Abu
Dhabi entance stamp.

I'm afraid your comments regarding contractors are way off the mark. :)

I traveled to Dubai the same way. It was a painless trip. However, the RTA will not process a Dubai drivers licence application with a Abu Dhabi entrance stamp in your passport.

The back of my stamp is full, so where did you get your vast knowledge of the local construction industry from? Not looking out of a car windo...

I understand the licence would be valid for the 10 years. A colleague of mine has returned to the UAE to work after a few years away and uses his old licence which still has four or more years left of validity.

My Italian girlfriend just entered Dubai a few days back and also received a 30 days stamp. She requested a 60 day at the passport control counter but was still only given a 30 day stamp. She was told that she would have no problem if she leaves within 60 days but I do not trust this info. It looks ...

Has anyone had a succesful visa run by car through the Hatta border in the last week or so? My Italian girlfriend only received a 30day stamp and it expires very soon. So we went to the DNRD office and had it confirmed that the 30day visa is indeed valid for 60 days, which can be extended by another 30 days (to a total of 90days) by paying the fee at the DNRD office. This was confirmed by others, and now by me. But, the fact remains that within the next 30 days we...

It is also dependant on your work situation. I have just started a five year project (construction) here. Now at the moment the going rent for a two bed property is around 180k (Springs - Villa, Marina Apartment) and rising. Over 5 years that will be nearly 1M. For me investing in an apartment aroun...

Mastertribute, buonasera..I lived and working Italy for three years before moving to Dubai. Which part of Italy are you from?

To answer your question, you should have no problem at all converting a UK European style licence to a UAE licence as long as you have the residence visa.
