I'm not entirely sure how to reply to this, seeing that I'm moving to Dubai in one month, but just the fact that there's something called "Dubai Media City" should be enough of an answer :D

I don't know (yet) about Etisalat's services, but I do know that PTT is a PROVIDER-based service. I.E it has nothing to do with frequencies, the 1-10second chats are sent via GSM (etisalat) when you hold a button down, and then when you let go of the button the phone goes into "receive" mode so you ...

quite simply, Etisalat is not gonna allow VoIP through GSM or GPRS because by doing so you are gonna call much less and thus pay them less by getting a lower phone bill..
You need to call them and ask, but I doubt they will allow you to use VoIP or PTT
Good luck!

I love TVRs, especially the Tuscan S, but the fact remains that up until recently TVRs have been extremely unreliable beasts, and that is why they don't sell that well worldwide (not just in Dubai) This young Russian dude recently bought TVR from its British owner. He's got big plans for TVR, you sh...

They really are a strange bunch...Why block websites and not block P2P...You can get pretty much EVERYTHING from P2P...

Accomodation in Dubai (I've had enough!)

Thats it..I'm really starting to lose it! Is it truly impossible to find decent housing for 60,000DHS/annum? I've been scouring the net for the past 3 months, my friend (roommate-to-be) has been searching in Dubai for even longer than that, with no luck! I am in desperate need of a decent unfurnishe...

Went to a place called Bar Zar in jumeria village, the moment I arrived in Dubai. There was a pretty cool 3 girl band (vocalist, bassist, guitarist).
Definitely worth checking out. Cool place too! (and cheap drinks :D )

What you're asking for is the holy grail of real estate :D Check on http://www.gulfnews.com classifieds for prices. As a reference, I'm living in a 2 bedroom apartment in Bur Dubai, in an OK neighbourhood, for 65,000 Dhs a year. Don't forget to add 5% finders fee (for the realtor) and about 2,000 Dh...

Each bank has its own terms... For example, with HSBC, if you opt for the STATUS account (im thinking of going for that option), your salary must be 7,500+ per month, and you pay a fixed 70dhs/month to maintain the account Other options are available..For example if you maintain 5,000Dhs in your acc...

Well I arrived in Dubai a couple of weeks ago and bought the maximum allowable (4 bottles and 2 10-packs of cigarettes) from the duty free. Now, you COULD buy more than the limit (I actually bought 3 10-packs), but when you exit the duty free to reach the gates out to Dubai, you are randomly checked...

Apply to a decent company and the only thing that will matter is your competence and your qualifications for the job. Depends on your standards:

Some people "live" with 1,000AED per month, some people need 15,000+..

Describe yourself a little bit...

Karim, you from Lebanon?

The range of salaries for fresh graduates in Dubai is between 5000 and 8000 AED/month, sometimes more (in rare cases)

6,000 is OK but not too easy to live on...Push for 7000+ for an acceptable lifestyle.

Good luck! If you have any more questions feel free to ask..
