Dubai Belly And Stone

Dubai belly and stone Jun 15, 2006
I've heard people talking about and referring to the "Dubai stone" and "Dubai belly" a lot recently.

Do people really put on much weight when they get to Dubai - is there a reason for this or are they just being greedy porkers?

Yes it happens.

Mostly because of the over abundance of carb-packed food available everywhere. It happened to me!!!

I've gained 30lbs since moving here,

.. also to add to what Ian wrote, chances are your life here is more sedate than back home.

Or at least less strenuous. There's a theory that the human body needs to walk 10,000 steps a day to maintain healthy weight range, or burn the equivalent energy, this would be very difficult in Dubai.

Is there any restaurants that provide diet meals (low fat or zero fat) and diet desserts?

I am asking because usually I gain weight very quickly so I want to control it when I will be in Dubai soon.

well, i can't think of one in particular, but there are litrally hundreds of restaurants covering a multitude of dissaplines. most cater to vegetarian meals due to the number of hindu people living in dubai.

A month after I got to Dubai I had gained 4Kgs... It's not that bad as I am pretty slim normally, but still for someone who has a high metabolism it's huge

But then Qatar happend... And I lost 6 Kgs... Spicy indian food every single day does that to you.

Funny, I actually lost weight when I came here. As oppose to some who've become nothing but blobs and princess and moan about it. Don't see what the fuss is about, there's healthy food out there and its not hard to find it.

Scarabs are very healthy. The desert is full of them.

Don't forget you need the exercise to turn that protein into muscle, plus you'll be heavier, muscle is heavier than fat.

People become so bloody lazy here, taking cars and taxi everywhere. I'd walk if I could. But hey I get out of the lift a few floors short of my office and walk up, always walk down, of course have to dodge the nasty smokers in the stair wells.

The food portions are ridiculous, they're fat yank sizes, no wonder people put on weight, I have to always ask for a quarter of the regular portion, it's just too much food!

Yes the protions here are huge....

and I think I got use to the portions and that maybe one of the reasons while I put on weight. everything here is supersize... even the burgers are bigger than in HK.
