Hey newfromlondon,

If you want to join me and my friends any time let me know. It can be hard when you first get here. When I first came 2 years a go I met my first group of friends of this very forum and I am still great friends with them now, though I don't come on here much.

Anyway if you want you can PM me and I will give you my email.

B

I wish we had a way to check on who is posting on internet forums. But I guess if life were like that ....

Newfromlondon, I'm sure through work you will have some people to head out with.. from there you are bound to bump into more. Expats love to socialize (as does everyone).

Cheers,

[quote="newfromLondon"]Hi everyone!

I'm new to Dubai and have been here a month. One thing I have noticed in my short spell is that people do not seem to want to socialise! everyone at work is 'coupled up' or has a family to go to or just want to do their own thing..

surely I am missing something, there must be some single fun loving people out there that want to explore the UAE and beyond and meet people from all walks of life...I mean. that's why we pack up at home and move abroad right? to experience different things in life and meet different people - it's not all work, work work! i'm getting so bored now that I'm thinking of going back to the UK!

I am a v sociable female, and have never had problems in meeting people and expanding my social circle in the past but this is just weird...maybe i was wrong about dubai. Perhaps it is just for people who want to make a quick buck and leave ???

Cheers!!

:)[/quote/]

Frankly it is true, but what's wierd is that females are never alone over here in dubai, I do face the same problem in dubai, there is a lot of ego and pride hanging around these people, you should either be in the same working place, same uni maybe, or same neighborhood, building to actually have access to friendship.

However if you do find the right people for hanging out, you will definitly enjoy your time in Dubai! Definitly that is!.

Well for a starter, I am a male 5th Year Nursing Student in Sharjah, I do go out often to dubai. Let's meet up and see how social you are =p

I would only have to complete 50 credits (9 months) and can get a degree in communications and have a job as an entry level journalist in the Media City.

I've looked into the communications curriculum and must say that even Mr. Bean himself could obtain a degree within that specified major, that too, from a reputable institution of higher learning as well. Communications is joke.

Your probably english I take it. Never been with an english girl. Altough I will sample that nationality someday, my contacts are telling me they can be obtained for 2500 AED for one hour.

This is no fair...Why did I not get the chance to take on this cretin. Would've been my pleasure putting him in place! Just read his posts on this thread, the old timers on DF's were a soft, soft lot!

So goin back to the main topic? How does one meet people in Dubai? It might be multicultural on the surface but people dont mix at all. Isnt the whole point of a multicultural place that people who dont fit into any stereotype or have typical triats of any one nationailty or culture find their place? I have been in europe for six months and the multicultural exposure/ experience have been amazing. But I am afraid that when I retrurn to Dubai in Octber; same old, same old.

Oh geez sorry BB, but that's the funniest thing I've read in ages. America's allies have more concern than their enemy, they keep killing them in friendly fire incidents - lol
