Argh. Wrote a nice long article to accompany this post and then accidentally deleted it.

It had everything: laughs (about living in Qatar), tears (about living in Qatar), ...

Ugh, so disappointing.

Anyway, for those of you living or thinking about coming to Qatar, shoot me a PM. I would be happy to help you get settled any way that I can.

Not that I've been here long, though. I've only been in the country for 3 months.

Qatar is quiet. Coming from Dubai, Qatar is very quiet.

But 'quiet' isn't always bad. In fact, my wife and I are welcoming it.

'Quiet' to us means a chance to save money. And saving money is one of our goals for 2013.

'Quiet' to us also means having time to focus on those little goals we never had time for. For example, my wife is going back to school to perfect her English. I'm writing a blog about our experiences in Qatar (if you are interested, it is http://www.qatarexpat.com).

For those of you living in Qatar (if any), how do you deal with 'quiet'? Is it something you welcome or a challenge?

No, it is up and running. But it doesn't display on older versions of IE. Is that what you're using?

I'm on IE8 and I cant see it either, well I can see the website but nothing on it. I would quite like to read your blog.

That sucks. I hate IE. Guys, please try any other browser and it will work. I'll try to get a patch for IE.

I can read it on my iPad. Seems a friendly place.

I've only met some Qataris once on a Qatar Airways flight, they seemed a lot of fun which isn't something that springs to mind with Emiratis although I do like them too.

Yeah, I am enjoying my time there. It can be a little boring at times, but hey...no place is perfect.
