Knight, you seem like my kind of moderator. Back on JBR community we had a mod who was up his own ar*e. I think I may have held the record for the most posts deleted in one day without being banned. I'm afraid I can be very naughty.
BTW I like both kinds of relationships but I'm safer with local.

How long does it need to be to be far away?

We get a lot of stick for being Mods, but here is the response I gave to one poster who accused us of deleting anything that is 'anti-Dubai'. Unfortunately you would not get to see it as it ended up in Fight Club...

"In defense of the Mods, we are often the ones poking fun or even the most hardline critics of the UAE! We have been appointed to 'police' the forum, not be a 'police state'. Therefore good old Freedom of Speech comes first and foremost and then keeping the garden tidy and the playpen clean comes second.

From a personal perspective I will not Mod a post unless there are deeply personal insults, bad language above and beyond the norm, confidential information disclosed such as forum members real names or phone numbers, incitement to a criminal act or open phishing and spamming. If you want to fill your posts with meaningless drivel, then go ahead...whatever floats your boat. Other members may then pillory you and throw verbal cabbages at your head, but then that's your own fault. I will stand and watch!

One look in the Political Forum will show that the tennis match of political and racial opinion can get down and dirty from time to time, but very little (if any) content is edited or attacked by the Mods.

To say we will instantly throw anything that is negative to Dubai into FC is naiive and there are many knocking threads out there to prove it.

I also don't have any problem with using expletives with * or $ or @ substituted for the real letters. The programming automatically changes the worst words and it allows members to be f*cking creative from time to time...
