I was just looking for info about recycling because I feel extremely guilty throwing everything into the trash. I found this thread via the search function, and looked up Emirates Environment Group that was mentioned - http://www.eeg-uae.org/ Unfortunately, while the site mentions recycling, I couldn't find specific info on where to deposit my recyclables. I've sent a message to EEG, but can anyone else here tell me where to find recycling drop-offs near The Greens and The Springs?

Thanks in advance :)

Kanelli,

Most Emarat petrol stations will have a recycling drop off bin.

Thanks!

Do they take paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, and metal? Nice to know before I try to lug it all there :)

Spinneys in Umm Suqeim and Bur Dubai have paper recycling drop-oof areas.
I've really battled to find collection points for other recyclables though.

maybe what we need to do is suggest to Corporate bodies in housing areas that they set up collection points for various items.
50 gallon drums painted in bright colours with what goes in on the side work fine and when they are full, i'm sure one of the recycling companies would send a truck around to collect.

Gkad to see there's so many environmentally friendly people on this forum, most people in Dubai just find it acceptable to open their car door and drop their rubbish into the road!

Fantastic idea! I'm shortly moving to the Springs so will see what I can arrange there.

Me again :) I received a nice response letter from EEG, and I think they'd help us in any way they can to promote more recycling in our areas.

Here is some more info about their recycling program:

"EEG is undertaking collection of paper, cans, plastic, glass and toner for recycling. We have more than 80 recycling centers strategically located in academic institutions and companies all around the UAE. These cages are designed to collect papers, cans and plastics. We can arrange for you to deliver your recyclable waste in one of these centers near your location. You may also deliver your recyclables, including toners and glass to our office located at Office 702 Crown Plaza Commercial Tower, along Sheikh Zayed Road."
