any IT professionals in Dubai who can help us with this one?

Im also interested in knowing what salary package to expect being a software engineer with 2-3 years experience especially in Java/J2ee space? I have a New Zealand passport, does that matter? as I heard it might do. I guess what I'm asking is what an 'average' salary for a western IT professional is...

I'm no expert but total packages for Systems/Software/Test Engineers are (I'm guessing) between 20K and 40K, maybe up to 50K a month (Dirhams) for more senior engineering roles. The grad at work gets maybe low 20s, but he is straight out of uni. He is also an Emirati so who knows. Everyone else is ...
