Can I approach RERA? Sep 06, 2012
My landlord is asking for around 10% rent increase (from 130 k to 145 k). This is for down town... Rera rental calculator on its site advises me that there should not be any rental increase as my current rent is more than the avg rent in the area. I did my usual research and there is no similar property in the market belwo 155 k...what should i do?
File a complaint with RERA rent committee?
Has anybody dealt with rera and does it help? Or should avoid a conflict and negotiate a lesser increase?
I'm in double minds and would like to hear your views..

I'm not sure... there were some real estate people posting in a previous thread on another subject. Let's hope they read this thread and can give some advice.

Back when I lived in Dubai there was a yearly decree about the max. that a landlord could raise the rent. We took our landlord to the rent committee because he tried to raise the rent far above the decreed amount. We won, stayed on one more year with zero increase.

If your research is correct It looks like RERA rental calculator is not up to date.
