G'day all!
I live in Australia & we have a free to air TV station called SBS which transmits the Dubai DRTV news twice a day.
It's a very swish set with lots of monitors in the back ground & sail-like decor with projected images on them so all fairly eye-catching.
However, I can't understand Arabic & there are no subtitles so I can't understand a word they're saying!
The news report is always presented by both a male & female sharing the desk & is about half an hour long with a sports segment (but no weather segment).
A few of us here in Australia think one of the female presenters is quite pretty & seems really nice but we have no idea what her name is. She has long (usually straight) dark hair & always seems to be quite enthusiastic & like someone who really enjoys what she's doing.
She hasn't been on at all these last couple of weeks but she usually does two or three days a week (usually Tuesdays, Saturdays & another day in between).
If anyone knows her name so we don't have to keep calling her "that Arabic newsreader" that would be fantastic & greatly appreciated.
Thank you so very much! :D

Ooops! I asked this already somewhere else on the forum but I could not find the original thread so I asked again.
Well, guess what! Now I just found it which means I should not have started this other thread. Please accept my apology...
ahzao
did you take a photo of her or something?
what does the emblem of the channel look like?
SKaVeN
Hello ahzao & thank you for answering.
No, I don't have a picture but a friend of mine uploaded a short clip to YouTube which he titled:
DRTV Arabic News Television Dubai
so if you go to YouTube & type that in the search you'll see it. :D

I did some research and it seems her name is Julnar Jerdely.
There is no consensus over the meaning of the name (Julnar). Some say it's Persian in origin. But the majority agree it refers to the blooms of pomegranate trees. It kinda fits the color of her dress, though. (in the video clip you referred to).
And by the way she's Lebanese.
Hope that helps.

She & one other lady present the show most days. The other lady (whose name sounds like it might be something like "Ardelia Hamoot") has been doing it a lot lately as Julnar's been away.
Every show starts off with a quick edit of fours news highlights, then it cuts over to the studio where they always do their hello & welcomes. When you listen to what Julnar or the other lady they both always appear to be saying exactly the same thing except for the last bit which is where we always presumed they are saying their name.
It sounds like she could be saying "Julnar Jerdely" if the 'J' in each name is pronounced as a "sh" sound...
I tried Googling "Julnar Jerdely" & couldn't find a single thing which is weird when it's the name of someone who works in television, especially a news show that's shown in several different countries...
Anyway, you have solved a mystery that has been bugging a few of us for a long time so thank you very much indeed! :D

nah nah, you don't get to just walk away so easily! You've got to tell me what made you so curious about her. Tickled your fancy somehow? come on, mate, spell the beans will ya?! :)
SKaVeN
Haha! Nah, there's no exciting back story I'm afraid. A few of us over at OzCelebs just think she's a hottie & discuss her often in one of the threads there.
You're quite welcome to pop over & join us.

BTW I never did ask you how you acquired your information about her (ie: her name & nationality). I hope you don't mind me asking because, even though (thanks to you) I now have a name for her, I still can't find a single thing about her on the 'net... :?
