Hi All I'm back! :hello2:
work --> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work--> home <-- work
Do you have a similar life too?
Do you think there is a way to change this?
Do you have better ideas to keep a balance in life?
Anything colorful?
Stress-free?
Social Clubs?
Sports?
Cultural activities?
Any other suggestion?
I am here to listen... :D

i feel your pain, please if you find an answer let me know :)

Its just a rat race that you need to get out of .. a half hour at the gym right after you get home will energize you and you can then do more stuff .. because if you get home and slouch on the couch and open up the tv, you wont get the energy to leave again. Also a group of friends who are active out and about everynight is good too :) ..
Oh one more thing, i think people who commute from Shj-->Dxb and back kill off around 4 hours of teh day just in traffic which doesnt really help when your work day is 12 hours ..
PrettyPenny
I feel your pain .... I think I've gotten so caught up in the routine that I've lost track of the things I need to do for myself, pay my bills, re-register my car, renew my passport etc etc. When does one have the time?!?
Yes the gym helps, so does yoga! But going out after a long day at work, gym or not, just makes the next day at work that much more exhausting for me.

agreed i think the commute between dubai and sharjah is killing.
This place really needs a better transport system.
Though i stay in jumeirah. Usually the traffic back from Jebel ali(emirates or sheikh zayed is insane) really wonder how the ppl coming and going from sharjah put up with it.
geraintindxb
yes, I do the same thing every weekdays.
HOME-WORK-HOME

I see we're all in the same ****... Welcome back Cutie btw
I personally try to go to the gym or swim everyday (at least that's what I like to believe) or go hang out in the Irish Village which is less than 50 m from my building...
XRW-147
I mix in sports, retail therapy and friends to balance out the whole work/home equation. All work and no play...

So what was your formula for success Arnie?
I gather its been through property investment but do you have any specific investment strategies that have worked the best for you?
arniegang
i follow the 3 rules of life, without which success is not possible
Risk , Luck and Determination, knowledge helps but it is always dependant on my 3 principles
This advice is free of charge.
ajb
Thanks .... so does that mean that you provide a mentoring service or property consultancy at a fee?
ajb
Knowledge is good but you can always hire it from someone else ;)
arniegang
noooooooooooo
it means one has to make it oneself, never be reliant on others. If you dont have it, no one can give it to you
arniegang
- ajb wrote:

i disagree, you are only buying someone else's opinion.
you should never buy knowledge, it is freely available.
ajb
not sure if you understood my post .... I mean that when I need legal advice I hire a lawyer (as I do not have the knowledge myself) tax advice an accountant etc etc
To acquire the levels of knowledge to function at a competant level in all those areas would take most of your life with little or no time to spend creating wealth.
arniegang
ok i got you, but i was referring to that which contributes to success. In the case of say hiring a lawyer, this is not relevant.
I would view this as merely a tool to be used on the road to success.
MaaaD
good twist to this thread. Ajb did you read "Rich Dad Poor Dad" ?
arniegang
ohhh i wrote that book

A book by a man with a strategy he never followed. Makes it kind of hard to swallow. Personally, I feel Robert T. Kiyosaki will the demise of many people's 'fortunes'. Overgearing is always problematic.
The message of leverage though is a good message, I've read it in many business books.

Interesting i never researched his life but why do you say he never followed his own advice ? I am not exactly sure of what you mean by "overgearing" too.

Thanks that was interesting !
ajb
Yeah I read a few of his books and while they were useful for changing ones perceptions they didnt seem to carry a huge amount of weight. However it was his book that at age 19 made me realise that whilst driving a WRX was "cool" I was in fact driving around in my first house deposit .... so the car went and the properties started to come.
Personally I much prefer John Burley and Steve McKnights work though.

Hi All, Thanks for changing the subject ;) that's a good what of twisting reality. I have joined a club which has a dance class, i didn't like it that much but i have to admit that it was fun. I have this thought that dance isn't nice without a partner unless there was someone cute in that class which is totally not the case at all. Conclusion i'm back to my regulars!

 Poor cutie... Actually I was having some serious thoughts of joining a salsa class but I am just afraid of ending up with some old ppl... Like you said it's important to at least attend one class before registering
cutielb
You know this salsa thing reminds me of a class i went to once at wafi. i ended up with a sweaty guy (God!) so i said khalas! but i said oh here is another dance class let me try it was even worse!!! haha ( so no more dance classes for me until i find my partner ) :)

Still on topic I thought?....just discussing the ways of escaping the work>home >work > home > work rat race that your first post was about.
