white or brown?

hamadl I went shopping a few days ago in order to cook some food at home, i was confused when i didnt know whether to take white or brown eggs, and no one was able to answer my question so far.. If anyone knows the difference between white and brown eggs, please let me know, thanks..

White eggs come from hens originally from Europe (North of the 48th parallel).
Brown eggs come from hens originally from either Ethiopia or Sri Lanka (there is debate about that).
All kidding aside, no difference other than shell color. hamadl I thought it would be something like the difference between white and brown sugar or white and brown bread.. But i guess what you said makes more sense :!: Concord
Actually there is no difference between white and brown sugar, as a sugar. Except that white sugar is bleached and made finer than brown sugar - to make it more appealing (and charge more for it). raidah actually there is. in my grandma's house i never had the type of white eggs u can find in the groceries. the "home made" hens are usually red (i mean the feather) and are fed properly, not like the poor white ones stucked hundreds or thousands in a farm and eating crap. (by the way, i read a few years ago that they are being fed with powder made out of milled chicken bones and dry chicken meat). back home, a red egg means better quality. that u find both types of eggs in the groceries, must mean they have farms with red and others with white hens. as for the eggs, if u open both, ull see that the red ones have the yellow part more yelow, as for the white one has it more pale. royski
Good point! Those obervations are are true. I agree with you.
As for the white and brown colored sugar, there is actually a difference aside from the color itself. Brown colored sugar lack the refining process which gives them the color. Aside from that, brown sugar tastes sweeter. SCY Brown egg is a little expensive by .50 fils or more. Contrary to Raidah and Royski, there's no difference between white and brown eggs other than its color or cosmetic appearance. Quality and healthy wise, both are the same. Hens with red feathers (as described by raidah) lay brown eggs, hens with white feathers & earlobes lay white eggs. In other words, eggs color depend on the specific breed of the hen. arniegang Soooooooo............... which came first - the chicken or the egg ?? :P gtmash
The dinosaur. arniegang but what laid the egg that produced the first dinosaur? :P
