Hi
I have just been offered a job at media city and plan to move to Dubai in the next few months. When I was over for my interviews I checked out some of the areas that you mentioned, my favourite was arabian ranches as it reminded me on a nice suberb with good facilities.
Good luck and see you at media city

i liked ranches too.
are you moving with children, and if so, what did you make of the JESS school at A.R.?
also, AR is very close to the autodrome and dubailand, i wonder if that will prove to be a pain from a noise point of view.
where you moving from? i'm london based.

There is also the Srings, the Greens and the Marina

I'm moving from London as well, but I don't have childen of schooling age so I can't comment on schools.
I'm still looking at a number of options, so its not a cretianty that I will move to Dubai. However, I have spent some time reaserching Dubai as the interview process has been so long.....
I woudn't worry about schools too much, from what i hear the standard is generally very high.

The Springs (v), The Greens (apts), the Meadows(v) and The Marina (apts) are all close to Media City - I recommend those areas. Arabian Ranches is out in the middle of nowhere. Al Barsha and Um Suqeim areas aren't too bad, but the villas might be pricier there.

The build quality of the Emaar developments is quite shitty though. Watch out for that...
Actually build quality for most of the newer developments in Dubai is crap.

If you are Brits I assume you want a Brit. Curriculum School. The educational standard here is pretty high, I agree, but knowing something about education, discipline is not, say of the standard of a private school (I think you Brits call them public schools) IMHO, I have friends who are Brits and think it is so much better than home but for us it is below par. If you want more input on schools I have pm'd a link for you.
