What would happen to Dubai in the future if...

pinoy1 ... they continue to: - exploit workers - incessantly raise accomodation rates - waste too much desalinated water - build incredibly too many hotels and other luxury extablishments - reclaim areas of the arabian gulf What do you think the consequences of these would be? :?
westside another war mabye or a some pile of shit would drop on top of them dont care!!!!! KeithL The construction here is insane No wonder its called the city with a million cranes  Jamal
PERSIAN GULF baby .. mraph33 what do you mean "IF"??? asc_26
It will explode like an apple granade! liverpool4ever Well, I guess things will stay getting worse until some earthquake happens, people tend to forget that UAE is not far from Iran and that we already had two or three minor scares over the past year. Also, all the dredging and digging taking place all around probably makes matters worse... God forbid though... Economists say that prices will drop down once there is more supply in the market (i.e. in one or two years), but heck, there ARE vacant accommodations around town but nobody is willing to pay the ridiculous prices for them but yet the landlords do not want to reduce their prices... Add to that the parking meters installed everywhere nowadays which add extra costs on top of the rents... dam zam its becoming worst and worst....maybe after sometime they will continue to:
- exploit workers moreeee
- incessantly raise accomodation rates too highhhh
- waste too much desalinated water tooo mucccchhhh - build incredibly too many hotels and other luxury extablishments ?!?!?!
- reclaim areas of the persian gulf (ok jammy?)
But seriously everything here is being studied by the govt....they have their goal/objectives (or whatsoever) for the good of their country. So I guess lets just work and work and work and see.... liverpool4ever
Did the gov study the effects of the Palms on the marine life? Guess not! zam What would be more beneficial to them?? Marine Life??? Or Dubai as no. 1 hot spot for Tourists??

Well, at some point the beaches that brought thousands of those tourists will lose their charm with all the crap in the sea coming from the palms mraph33 Don't worry....the water around the Palms will be filled with mechanical, solar powered fish. Guilo2 Hmm fish and chips won't ever taste the same again. Bleakus [quote="Jamal"]
Arabian Gulf dude ;) pinoy1 I read somewhere about the water consumption and the method of extracting fresh waterfrom sea water in Dubai. It says that soon it will affect the salinity of the waters in the gulf- especially with the boom of the hotel industry here (people use (waste) 4x more water in hotels than in their homes), and the irrigation systems. I'm sure you all noticed the black hoses laid under the grass all over the city. I wonder where all that salt is being dumped... yujinn Rents will be too high for an "ordinary expat" (blacks and browns who are rank-and-files) while salaries remain low. They'll leave for other humane countries. All that'll be left here are hundreds of hotels with no personnel, restaurants with no service crew, buses and taxis without drivers, clinics without nurses, and offices with only managers and higher ups (who happen to be whites) in them. yujinn what else.. hmm...
- Deira, Karama and Burdubai will be like the ghettoes in NY
- The persian gulf will dry up at it's upper part because Jupiter of the latest reclamation project, "The Solar System" finally blocked sea water from coming into the gulf.
definitely everything wont be the same same anymore
 weary_heart C'mon you guys - dont be so pessimistic. We pay the price of living in the metro. harkev It seems that with growth like this, looking similair to how my market in UTAH USA has been for the past 4-5 years, will eventually have to let some air out of the bubble. All that goes up does come down, but as long as their is growth in population the values will hold strong. I do worry about the enviromental effects that in later years we will look back and say, "What the F were we thinking?", but justify it with lots of money.... Sad :( Just my two cents.
DubaiInformationSite just take a look at what is happening now? that said, dubai is an interesting and unique place. no one is forced to come or go. people come for their own reasons....those who do not like it will leave. dubai may change its ways to affect the behavior of the expats, but at the end of the day the choice is all yours.... BB to expand, Dubai will claim back those 3 island under Iran occupation, will then Iran have the nuclear bomb to finish off Dubai... rch portland to expand dubai , they will cover the gulf with sand and claim the sea... Sharp No More sea water will be avalible in Future!...... jhbsnoopy No more desert just buildings and shopping malls. bonbonboi
wrong.
the desert gonna takes alls. simply because it's a desert land.
the desert will expanding itself to cover all those buildings. it will take back its land. nature's law!
