I am FURIOUS!!!! To put it bluntly! Came into works carpark to see three youths, dragging a poor little puppy along on the end of a rope. Pulling and shoving him, one gave him a boot in the ribs! The pup must only be about 12 weeks old.
Of course me, being me, won't tolerate this, so I go over and ask what the hell they think they're doing. I check over the pup, who is crawling with dog ticks - which I proceed t spend the next ten minutes pulling off as many of the little buggers as I can with my finger nails.
Needless to say I took the puppy off them, my work mate lives round the corner so took him to have a bath and clean him up.
What gives people the right to treat animals this way?! What are they teaching children?!
And before any of the high and mighty jump on and harp about caring for people and putting them first - I DO! What was I supposed to do, turn a blind eye and let them torture this poor mite!

Good for you…saving the little puppy!
Surprised that they let you take away the dog from them, if it’s theirs.., but glad that they did.

Well they handed him over. Mind you seeing as I was flanked by two security officers with guns, they're hardly going to resist now are they.

Good on you Choc.
Those f*cking monsters. I'd like to drag them around the parking lot for a while kicking them in the ribs.

actually makes you think - if people can be sick enough to mistreat animals the way they do - they could do the same to humans too.

your line reminded me - I grew up here and would you believe, as a kid i've seen gangs of arab kids mistreat labourers by dragging them around, trashing them and stealing their wallets. I believe a lot of it still goes on on and off in some neighbourhoods.

Wow, they have guns? Where do you work?
There are two diverging roads when you are coming up to my work. One goes to my work, the other goes to some kind of military base with friendly guards that welcome you with M-16s.
Whenever people get lost trying to find us I just ask "Is anyone around you holding a machine gun? If so, turn around and take the next left."

Chocs, I'm so glad you helped the dog! You did the right thing. So many people see terrible things happening to animals, people, property etc. and they don't want to stand up and say or do anything.
dresden
Thank you for having the courage to stand up and do something about this.
I wish I could kick some of those "youths" in the face myself.

You know I'dforgotten how hard it is to look after a puppy. But I can't help but laugh at the things he does. And I'm sure my older dog keeps egging him on - bitch!
All good though! A1 personality and super smart!

recently, a dog came into guinness records for being the oldest living dog, its age was about 21 ( I guess), and it was from the US.
heard about that folks?

People get older, dogs go with it. We got good healthcare nowadays.
Who cares

Yep. Animals can live a long time. Depends how well they're looked after. Like anything, exercise and good diet go alog way. All my pets have lived well into their late teens.

as I read here in another thread, that cats are not pets that they come to rest and eat, and it may move on to someone who treats much better than its owner.
but dogs, as in pulp fiction, they got a personality!!!
Chocoholic
I dispute that! Cats are excellent pets. Mine has an awsome personality. He very much used to be an outside roaming kinda moggy, but now much prefers to stay indoors and play with the dog.
kanelli
Cats and dogs are awesome pets, and people should be responsible for them for their lifetime. That includes taking them with them when they move away, and being careful about who they leave to care for their pets when they are away on holiday etc. Just like children, pets need to be protected from any kind of abuse as well.
So hilarious how cats and dogs can play together, especially when they build a relationship when one or both are still babies :) I have a friend here who has a young cat and small dog and they are great fun to watch when they wrestle and cuddle together on their cushion.

My cat HATES the puppy with a passion! He puffs himself up so much he's actually bigger than the puppy and chases it around the house.

Choco that conjours up some excellent images cheers

very sad!! do you think nowadays parents have much time to see wts their kids up to??
xero_
nice one, im all against animal cruelty. if it was legal to torture people that does animal cruelty, i would gladly do it with pleasure. those kids should feel the same pain the puppy did so they learn their lessons. :x i hope more people here in dubai do what you did. most people here are just plain ignorant on treating pets.
