isnt latin a dead language now?
shafique
Latin is dead - but some great books were written in Latin - in fact all the languages I've listed are primarily so that I can read books in those languages.
Thinking about it, I might add Persian before Latin though... should be easier to learn if I know Arabic and Urdu!
Only just started learning Arabic though - so a long way to go yet!
cheers,
Shafique

Why would you want to learn Dutch?? No offense but I find it a barbaric language! Hurts my ears  Or maybe it has something to do with the 9 hours I had to spend at $#%$%@ Schiphol each and every time I came back from L.A. .... Honestly I hate the damn language!

Well my dad is originally from Palestine and I want to go there some day. The language in Israel is Hebrew as well as Arabic. Since I've got Arabic well under my belt I figured it would only make sense for me to know Hebrew...since I am Palestinian.
I like to be able to speak the languages of the countries that my parents come from.

I must say it can at times seem a very harsh language (with the throat sounds) however I have made quite a few Dutch friends over the years and it would be good to reply to them in their own language.

it all started when i was with my family and we met with an isreali family in frisno, the guy's son was speaking to my father in correct arabic (old arabic), plus he was memorized the whole quran although he is jew.
Arabs and Isrealies have a bad history and i do consider them an enemy of mine.....if they make an effort in learning my language then i would make an effort to learn their language.

and i need a couple more months before i complete the program i have set for myself. i learn languages pretty easily so it takes me around 3-4 months to be able to be fluent in a language. it is really easy since its similar to arabic in pronunciation. right now though im reviewing my spanish since im being tested on that language in december.

Danish(off course)
English
German
Swedish
And i can curse pretty good in Albanien
I find it hard to keep upon them when they are not used regularly, but as it seems like im going to work in the Middle East things would probably be easier for me if i learned Arabic, but the next on the wish list was Spanish. With German English and Spanish, you'll be covered in most countries in the world.

My Dad's wife is Azeri/Tatar/Russian and as she and her family speak Russian, I'd love to learn it. Also, my dad used to work/live in Azerbaijan for 4 years before moving to Dubai, so I fell in love with the place when I was visiting.
Spanish as well, just because I like it and it's one of the most widely spoken languages in the world.
