I am thinking of starting a small business from home. Kind of like a personal shopping service aimed at expats. I have lived abroad before and get frustrated when you can't find some of the simple things to make life easier (nappies, magazines, books, maternity clothes etc). Do you think this idea would take off for expats living in Dubai? Looking forward to your ideas. Nicky

its a good idea, give it a shot :) most of the people would like things delivered to their doorstep, but the items u listed are widely available here through various hypermarkets and speciality stores.

Sounds like you could have a niche market.....new higher earning expats that are new to the city could probably use that service.
Alternative you could expand your offering to include 'a whirl wind tour of Dubai, where everthing is, where you can buy items, which clubs to join, gyms to join, which schools to use, where to go for dinner'

Set up a hotline, use a premium rate number to earn money 'ask all those questions you never know the answer too' and if you can't answer it a return call in an hour!
As long as you have excellent customer service you could be onto a winner cause over here it is shite!
I've only been here a short few months, found it difficult to find somethings but then I have people to ask! Welcome to DF...
