All I said was that you can add to the definition. There was absolutely no sarcasm intended in my post.
Hiya
The term Westernized has been associated with all bad things in our
society, so saying this girl is Westernized means that she might not
wear hijab and she does not care about 'Isalm' in general and the
same thing goes for men as well but what about all these good things that
can be taken from the westren world as they are much more advanced
than we are... Can we really benefit from the west? and my questin for
you is would u be offended if someone call u a Westernized peson?
kanelli
I wouldn't be offended because I am a Westerner :)
GAB
What is western anyway? Most "western" countries are so culturally diverse how can you define western?
kanelli
Western covers the main ideologies shared by Western countries, for example, separation of church and state, democracy, freedom of speech, women's rights, higher tolerance for other cultures and religions, less bureaucracy, and there is also more consumerism and capitalism methinks - at least in North America.
GAB
You could say Singapore is Western then?
kanelli
Well, you can feel free to add to the definition then...
GAB
I wasn't being facetious nor sarcastic-strange for me  , but if you think about it, it could be as I guess could many other places yet when someone says "western" they often mean something else and mean only a few countries.

To us "westerners" the name is also the same as what we would refer too or call "cowboy films", as in the the old wild west or "westerns"
A sixshooter was the name given to the early revolvers that had six bullets like the old smith and western. A stetson is a cowboy hat ( linked to mainly Texans) and i think "chaps"are the leather leggings cowboys used to wear to proctect their jeans whilst riding horses.

Damn good point! Plus I hate the 'term' Western - it's all purely geographical! Afterall we don't go around saying 'Easterners' do we?
Yeah I love old western movies - The good, the bad, and the ugly - dow dow dow du du du dow dow dow dum dum dum dow dow dow do dodododo!
Dang then I must be a cowgirl by the descriptions, that's exactly what I wear when I horse ride, minus the gun and lasoo! - YEEEEEHHHAAAAAA!

Makes you immediately think of Clint Eastwood. Western embodies all that is bad to some but is also used as Kanelli said to mean all those good things like freedom of speech, civil liberties. I always wonder though how capital punishment fits in?
