welcome back

Misery Called Life
With FB, everyone's playing Texas Hold em, the points I'm talking about are chips. You see there's a huge secondry market for these chips, housewives, singles, rich locals, everyone wants them!
Yuppy culture!
raidah this is what they told me when I entered the country. not welcome, but welcome back. after picking up the baggage, I got "shortlisted" for yet another scanning and voila. there goes my poker set. my cousin taught me how to play poker. its fun and in my opinion ultimately is a game of learning about people, not about gambling. either way, since I'm no longer a party animal, I got with me a set to play with friends in the weekends, so when they wanted to take it away I refused. to make it short, it almost became a police case :) . it didn't, because one of the guys in charge was a man, not a dck. on the way back home was reading a book about men and women. not the usual boring stuff, but one with a very interesting approach on where we fail in our lives and towards each other. that office was filled with men and women kissing asses, shitting their pants because of their bosses or acting accomplished and all mighty because they crawled up a bit in the hierarchy. I was upset over the poker set, but they made me feel sorry for them as one after the other was testifying of the accuracy of the book. so sad. one of my friends back home said I cooled down compared to how I was before. I guess she is right. these 3 weeks, were the most complex vacation I ever had and probably the best one also. feel like I came back 10 years smarter :) smartd Let me know if you find a set or even group that plays texas hold'm Cheers, D oh and welcome back Richardson maybe not the same but you could try facebook, I believe you can play online for fun although haven't tried it. I believe some of the functionality is blocked here. sage & onion
Welcome back, so take it you are now ready to set up a game? nuzbim been here two years and could never find people who'd be willing to play. if you ever want to get a game, i'm interested in playin. Bora Bora Count me in, but only if you use "potato" chips to play. Back home I remember when my family would go from Friday nite to Monday early morning playing. Leda What book was that? Misery Called Life Poker on FB has made some people here in UAE very rich. Those points are quite valuable trust me, I've known locals who've paid ridiculous sums for those points. RobbyG
What points do you mean MCL? I never played poker on Facebook, let alone me having a profile on there...
I have been playing Texas Hold'em for years now. Even had a period in 2006 where I earned a small income from it by playing online.
My favourite playgrounds were:
Victor Chandler Poker
Ultimate bet Poker
Martins Poker (now 24hpoker)
and Devilfish poker
Anyone else with experience with Texas Hold'em?

MethoD I've always been interested in Poker but i havent had the time to teach myself how to play RobbyG
Well, I've got a nice pokercase full of them quality (non-casino labelled) chippies.
About 17 euro in Holland for 300 chips. About 85 Dirhams. With proper weight (clay or metal inserts, can't remember)
Need a pallet? raidah praised be the lord :D
for 7 and up
whos your daddy now  FTD Played Hold Em off and on for around for about 7 years now. Obviously don't play here in Dubai but was playing at a fairly high standard at one point. It's a pity it's frowned upon as it's as much a game of skill as what backgammon is. Neither are a gambling game either if played "properly" but both allow the player the facilty to gamble. Yet poker is a no-no while backgammon is not a problem. I can't understand why people would buy Facebook poker chips off a winning player, what can you do with them? Speedhump Welcome back Raidah! A friend of mine left the UAE last year and took his set of casino quality chips with him. I dont recall him having trouble getting them into the country. A week or so ago I went through the handluggage scan at Immigration with loads of wallets of loose family photos inside. They asked me as I picked up the bag 'money inside? I said 'no, photos', and the lady just shrugged and asked me to move on. Must have looked like several hundred thousands of different denominations and currencies on the scanner. Guess you were just unlucky. :D Some people do play poker here, and high stakes games too, I said no thanks. Stud is the purist game as far as I am concerned, but I know people nowadays prefer Texas Hold'em. RobbyG Glad you didn't bring any US dollars with your photo books. 90 percent contain residues of Cocaine on them. Did you see the report lately? Lot of American's will face jail coming into the UAE with some US dollar change left in the wallet... O wait, you (Speedhump) were an english fooker, right? Speedhump I always carry Dollars when going anywhere apart from to the Uk when I carry pictures of the Queen. Your comment sounds quite worrying! I think I heard it once before but forgot it. RobbyG
Its was broadcasted over all the major networks recently.
Quite worrying indeed, if you carry US dollar bills that is...
