I know a few of us were trying to get on to the forum this morning but could not. were we hacked or just Forum down-time?

The minute I log in to my computer in the office, I check the DF site though I don;t make posts coz I can't ( if my boss is here ) so I just browse...
and whenever his out for a few minutes, I would open the site again and read...
Now his out and will be back at 5 ..and so here I am posting..
will you consider that an addiction? :)

I had to pick colors for the tiles in the bathroom this morning and my wife lost her credit card so I had to do some urgent shoe-shopping with her this morning (she ws down to 34 pairs)
Because I came late this morning - I'll leave a little more early today. I tee off at 17h00

i havent been able to access for 24 hours.
I keep getting Phbb Critical Error - cant connect to database".
I think some of the links are broken within the board itself even now, because when i click on the "forum index" i still keep getting same display and i either have to click on back button in IE or retype in to reconnect.
I will contact Andy to make sure a copy is made, i suspect the oard has either been hacked or there is a host server problem.

Just to confuse all a bit more:) Heres a bit on phpBB critical error
Errors of this kind occur quite often with fresh manual installations. Through first hand experience we have determined the common reasons to be
- no database or database user created.
- invalid database password.
- erroneous username or database name.
- the user you have set up for your database has not been granted access privileges.
- inability to connect to the database server (be it offline, or on a remote machine that times out on connection attempt).
When installing phpBB manually, you need to create the database and the respective user by hand from the MySQL management section of your control panel.
Please make sure that you use the correct password for the database.
Should the password be correct, please check that the database name or the user name you have set up are the same as the ones you have created. On cPanel-based providers, those would include a prefix. Basically, if you named your database forum, the actual name will be
username_forum
where username is your cPanel username. Same applies for the database user.
In case you have made sure the above data is correct, please check if the database user has been granted ALL privileges for accessing the database (otherwise the script will not be able to read the records in the database).
With all three possibilities above corrected and you still getting the error, we advice that you contact your hosting provider's support team to make sure the MySQL service is up and running.
But does arine have a direct access to the database?i mean to edit? orelse this might just be a case of the server being down and not getting access.

i have worked out that the Forums "index" page is corrupt ie:
anyone now, who tries to access DF via the "index" page will not get in. This will mainly show itself as a problem for new people to access the forum via searches as most result via the index.php page.
I have contacted Admin/andy
