Can't help you with that dont know because we have the schengen space here no need for visas here. Though I have advice on where to go, and dont go to naples or sicily, it s quite dangerous at the moment.

if you live in dubai, go to VFS at al mina road, near dubai dry dock. all visa application (schengen) must be submitted there for italy, france, germany. not embassy/consulate anymore. it may take 2 weeks to finish. i went to italy couple of times from dubai. i don't know how much now. ask VFS.
