Vintage Porsche 911 pre 1972 model

londongiza Hello I am a classic car buff from the UK moving to Dubai. I love classic 911 Porsche's. The best examples of these lovely cars are found in California where the weather is warm and they don't rust. I am thinking of getting a left hand drived imported from California to the UAE. Here's my questions: 1) How easy is it to have such a car imported and the cost? 2) Are there other examples of these cars in Dubai? Are there mechanics who can obtain parts and service these cars? 3) Anyone else out there who has done this or is interesting on embarking on a similar project?
fayz One of my old neighbors had a '69 Targa but they are few and far between here.
I would also be a bit wary as there are impeding laws that will likely be in place by the end of this year limiting the age of cars that can be renewed, i.e. nothing older than 15 years. These laws will likely have clauses for classics but as the laws haven't been finalized it is hard to determine how expensive they'll make it to register classics.
If you're a true Porsche fan you'll spit on this suggestion but they do sell 356 kits here with Pug engines right next to the airport. They have AC and for parts are meant to be easily sourceable, as such a little more practical for Dubai.

Oh and you should contact the Dubai Porsche club. (/) maybe they can give you some advice.
Good luck in whatever you decide yorky500
They are made in China, no? londongiza
Thanks Fayz,
This is most helpful. I will get in touch with the Porche club and will keep an eagle eye out on the new legislation. To be honest, I would opt for a old Porche anyday over a replica. In my opinion, there is nothing that comes close to a Porsche driving experience, be it any age of the car.
The Porsche Club sounds good though. I may well join them
Thanks again for the very helpful advice. fayz Yorky I belive PGO is a french company that went bankrupt and was bought by a Khaliji, not really sure where they are made in. I drive a chinese made car though  they aren't that bad. Good luck London, I hope you get your dream car. hosrom_951 Importing should not be a problem, just make sure the car is LHD. As for workshops, best of luck, prepare to do a lot of work you'reself if you want things done right. Al naboodah doesn't do what you want, they do what they want and charge serious money. House of cars are cheaper, but yet again, they don't do things right. I have been working on my porsche for the past 7 years, i do as much of the work myself (brakes, cylinder head, turbocharger, tranmission etc), i only go to a shop if i want the car on a lift for access, and still do the work myself, following the manuals. If you want to know just exactly what those shops do, send me an email, and i will show you.
