Upgrade or buy a new one?

Chocoholic LOL well it seems my hand has been forced as my laptop has literally died and the hard drive is completely corrupted, to the point that it displays no data or even drive partitians. I can recover the data if necessary - thank goodness fo back ups! But new laptop here I come - now what to get? Hmmmm something pink and shiny!
Not_Sure I saw a very nice soft pink colored 11 inch laptop from sony....beautiful! 2300 AED Although i bought myself an 11 inch ACER, maroon, also good looking for 1,600 AED It does the job for me. -browsing net -checking mail -skype, yahoo, bla bla bla Chocoholic Nope, converted to a macbook and love it love it love it. Does all the things I want/need and more so. Chocoholic Hello, I have a Sony Vaio TR5 laptop, that is about 6 years old now. It runs super slow now and refuses to play the videos in HD that I have shot - in fact finding it difficult to find programmes to play HD videos. Now apparently I can upgrade the RAM memory, but not the processor as it's integrated. Is it worth it? Or should I just get a new laptop? Not_Sure Technology changes so fast (1 year) But officialy is set to (3 years) Your laptop is 6 years old. Nothing in the current market is compatible with your laptop (software & hardware) Conclusion, Buy a new laptop if you want to use anything of todays world. Keep your old laptop only to use what you are able to use with it (web browsing, checking mail, etc) Been shopping for laptops lately, you can a decent one from 2000-3000 aed. Chocoholic Meh - really? I love my little lappy. Actually a few peeps have told me to look at the new HP Envy series as it's made for audio/video use and editing - apparently the closest thing you can get to a MAC without being a MAC. fayz
Get a new laptop, upgrading you'll spend less money but without a decent processor the extra memory won't be fully beneficial.
Generally i'm not a fan of HP but no direct experience with the ENVY line. bonk 1. Defragment disk 2. Add RAM - at least 2GB if you run Vista but 3GB is better. 4GB is overkill unless you do games or CAD. 3. If you still have XP then 2GB RAM is plenty. 4. Processor makes little difference to average user. I have a 10 year old desktop with win2k and 1.5GB RAM. Still runs fine .... ... cra...aa...ssh...hhh.... Oh no! .... help! :(. ahamed as bonk said.. i say, old is gold. i still have a 75mhz x86 machine, running perfectly with a modded version of windows 95. Boots into the explorer under 5 seconds after ripping its skin off :) chocs, if you are interested drop me a line, i got a some price lists from the market if you would like to see 'em. Also a sony vaio SR210J for 4150 for sale if you anyone is interested funmantra I suggest New one ..

Reports have been cropping up on the Apple Support forums that users have been losing all their data due to a nasty bug in Snow Leopard, Apple's latest Operating System. Many users are reporting that all settings are being reset and most data is gone, according to iTWire.
The problem, can easily be reproduced when a user logs into the 'guest' account, either on purpose or by accident, and when they log back out of the account and back into their normal one, they find that their account has been fully reset with all data wiped and lost - the account is like a brand new one. The home directory still exists under "/Users/username" but is completely empty.
Backup your work before you try it out! Chocoholic Well lucky for me Mac's here don't come with Snow Leopard yet, they come with Leopard. If you want the upgrade you have to order it from the States.
