UAE License Transfer from NJ USA

thsmbradford I went to the traffic department office in Al Safa today with my forms all ready to transfer my drivers license. I hold an American passport and have a NJ license. The (rude) traffic department clerk told me that NJ no good. Go to driving school and waived me off. This directly contradicts everything on all the websites. Has anyone had a similar experience?
rixia I went last Thursday to obtain a UAE license by showing my US passport and NY license - no problems there and took about 10 minutes total (not counting the optician which was like 5 minutes). I went to the traffic and license office in Jumeirah Plaza Center on Beach Road (if you know where the Spinneys and The One furniture store is on Beach road - then walk 2 or 3 blocks south and Jumeirah Plaza Center is the building right after the petrol station). The RTA office is lobby level on the left hand side. There is an optician (i think the store name is Baratak?) right across the RTA office by the mall entrance and I think they charged me AED25 for the exam. i was told the RTA office is open until 8pm. Remember that you also need your residence visa and 4 passport photos to apply for the license. thsmbradford Hey there! So, I went to another site today and I submitted the same **** license I submitted yesterday and had no issues whatsoever. Just another Dubaiism I guess.
