Hi all,
I joined the group yesterday, after a few months of observing. I'm looking to move to Dubai in the Spring/Summer.
As you may know from my first posting -looking for daycare info- I thought I would be moving with my child, but I had a miscarriage this morning so it will just be me joingni you.
Looking forward to reading your postings to help ease the transition.

I think to myself you all could have just been like "oh there's a newbie" but all of you took the time to press reply and say "hello" or "welcome" or more. What a nice gesture. It's like walking past a stranger and they can either walk by as thought they never saw you, or they can smile/nod to acknowledge you. Somethings small but really effective...and appreciated. Also, thanks for the comments of regret for my loss.
I looked at some post-its but couldn't find a MAP for me to better understand the areas for employment/rent.

Hey, I would suggest to buy 'The Complete Residents Guide - Dubai' published by Explorer. It has been really helpful to me since I have been here - and has helped me navigate around areas of the city.

I just moved here over a month ago..the transition is not too bad if you have the right information. If you enjoy being close to the mountains and greenery, this isn't the place (I miss it like crazy and get my fill on off time going hiking in Oman area).
As far as the miscarriage...it wasn't time for that soul to come into this world. It wasn't your choice...know that. Just as when somone passes, it is difficult to celebrate their transition, it is difficult to understand why events happen as they do. It just wasn't the right time.

I agree with you that people are too wrapped up these days to say hello. By the way, coming in Spring (for info, no such season exists, although the Winter for people from Canada would be considered Spring.
