I understood that trucks or pickups could be registered by individuals - there was a change in the rules a year or two ago. However, in practical terms it may not be so easy. One person I know who got one registered only succeeded with the assistance of some wasta in the end.

I want to buy a 4x4 truck for personal use, but i've heard it has to be registered to a company, and you can't register a truck for personal use?
Anyone heard about this, or know whats going on (fake/lie?)
Cuz i'm planning on buying a Toyota Hilux, or Toyota Tacoma or something, getting it raised a few inches, and making it a badass car...

I also heard about this company thing for Hilux also. However, it seems you can get a GMC-type truck registered as an individual.
You could probably get a CID permission, like you would for a 2-colour paintjob, although I don't know why CID is involved in such trivialities.

Cybix,
If you purchase a truck directly from the dealer they will register it for you with no hassle at all. I have a Ford F150, good service from Al Tayer Motors.
Stay away from GM (Chev etc.) as the service is unbelievably bad, I had one of those as well but gave it back to the Chev dealer in Dubai after months of frustration.
