Thunderstorm in Dubai

Captain Australia Wow, the weather is going mental out there right now. I opened the balcony door to see the lightning and was hit in the face by the wind and rain, had to run back inside. I also heard a few 'ohhhhs' and 'ahhhhs' from the Barasti as people were watching the lightning... then the rain hit and it was all screams as everyone ran for cover. haha! :-)
redtilldead hailstorm too! Captain Australia Lucky I'm not out cruising then. <---------------------------- Bora Bora And Showtime satellite is down. Captain Australia
Yeah, I think I just saw it blowing down Jumeriah Beach Rd ;-) Mayflower we were driving near the business bay and our car itself was shaking due to very strong winds..never seen such a thing here b4  Bora Bora
Can you put on your knee high rubber booties and get it for me? gtmash seems the HAIL didn't hit all of you. Snow The roads around my area are flooded. I need a boat. RobbyG
Oohh Captain, do you hear the whiningggg voice of female request!?

Are you sure you want a boat?
raidah we were caught on the road heading towards DMC from SZR. I've never seen smthing like this before. and it was raining with ice on top of it. 1.5 hour later the road was dry  sharfraz hehe ... my mate even said that he hadnt seen this even in the UK or Europe... ArchitectRoel Any pictures? sharfraz my mate took some photos .. will ask him and post, if he has that saved... 8) desertdudeshj Check these pics out RobbyG
Are you guys for real? :confused4:
Thats something we have for dayzzz in a row with a Nordsea climate.
Ahh well, can't wait to join you desert rabbits
Nicely sized 'hailbullets' you got there though  desertdudeshj Same reaction when brits go all silly and goofy, start running around in circles and really at a loss at what to do when the see the sun in England  Once you get here and spend some time in 45+ temps. Even the sight of a far away cloud will give you wood ! RobbyG Hahaha, thats exactly the reason why I am still smiling momentarily. Not burning my bunghole just yet ;)
Chocoholic Oh for goodness sake you guys! This happens EVERY year in Dubai! This weather is perfectly normal for this time of year. Geez the hail storms I've seen in previous years have thrown down ice balls the size of a golf ball. Get over it already! Captain Australia
Geez, what's the matter with you? Did you slip on a hailstone or something this morning? Chocoholic No, but anyone would think this is a one off occassion. It is just the normal weather for this time of year, so really no need to get excited about it is there. Captain Australia Sorry.
OK, everyone pack up. Choc says there is nothing to talk about. I'll just close this thread.
[ or maybe you should not post in threads where you think there is nothing to talk about. i.e. don't talk about it, lead by example]
Back on topic.
A concrete wall at work collapsed last night because of the wind. It was under construction and had obviously not been properly secured. Lucky it didn't kill anyone. yorky500 There was carnage in and around Ghantoot this AM. Plus the stretch of SZR road passed the Waterfront was hail stones/horizontally driven rain etc, fun to drive in. Also, there were people stopping at the sides of the road to collect ice from the hailstones. I am sure Captain Aussie saw all this too, awesome seeing the damage the hail had done to the trees, as it has totally covered a stretch of road to AUH in leaves. yujinn For some it is their first time to experience it though, like me- 3 yrs in dubai. So let us have our moment please? The wind was intense last night.. toppled some young trees along Rigga/Muraqqabat. Captain Australia
Yeah, that was weird driving when the white lines of the highway were replaced by endless strips of leaves.
Saw that Minivan crashed into the tree too. Didn't look good. A friend said when he went past they were trying to cut the driver out with the jaws of life.
Oh, and the maniacs collecting/looking at ice? That's fine, but don't stop on the shoulder next to the fast lane to do it, idiots!?! My God that is dangerous. RobbyG You probably caught a few hailstones yourself also, Captain in the Mini! Just look at that raggadee a$$ with grey beard just occupying that Mini Cooper Convertible. Damn, you catch a lot of 'stones'. I bet you corner in the wind when you put your hand out with a bit of speed.... 8) Chocoholic Well when we do have weather like this is normally goes to show how shoddy much of the workmanship is as things collapse, get blocked, flood etc - nice! quatroporte
loool
she is right.. nothing so special about this weather RobbyG
Duhhh
