Hi,
How are you all? My query is regarding the standard of healthcare in Dubai. There is a strong possibility that I will be coming to live and work in Dubai soon. I am currently receiving treatment here in England for Rheumatoid Arthritis which involves 2 different types of medication (Methotrexate and Sulphazalasine) and also blood tests every 6-8 weeks. Can anyone offer me any advice as to how easy it will be for me to get the drugs over in Dubai and also how expensive they may be. A standard NHS prescription here in England costs £6.85.
Also can anyone advise how easy it will be for me to get check ups in the local hospital as well as the required blood tests to check how the drugs are impacting on my vital organs.
Any advice or comments will be much appreciated,

I don't know about your specific checkup requirements, but in general in Dubai health care is very expensive. The company's insurance mostly will cover only general in/out patient cases. Rarely even cover maternity, teeth, and eyes.
Your prescription in UK would probably be cheaper because I believe you have like social security or medical insurance from govt. Correct me if I'm wrong. But in Dubai, there's no such thing as those.
FYI, a general case like headache, flu, or fever, if you're not covered by insurance, you may end up paying 200 AED (about 30 pound) and up, where the doctor's fee may vary from 100 AED and up.

I am an expat. I go to government hospitals and the Iranian Hospital (run by Red Crescent). Has worked out fine for me since I was born. Cheap as heck, and a family member had a stone-removal operation for free (back then) too. Can't comment on your specific case though.

If you're on a good wage your medical insurance will be pretty comprehensive, the good thing here is some plans accept existing conditions and pay for the treatment.
In general, drugs are cheaper here but can't comment on your specifics.

Hi there im moving out to dubai in october i also have R athritus im on sulphasalzine and steroid tablets as im trying for a baby i cant go on methotrox just yet.
My husbands company covers all my medical for pre exsisting conditions so i will be fine. You will need insurance .
i have contacted a number of specialists that deal with arthritus in dubai and said it would be very expensive and would need the insurance.
I was too extremely worried as we have to have regular blood tests and see a doctor every 3 months.
They have all the latest medicines for arthritus in Dubai. i would prolly be able to get better medication in dubai as my specialist cant give me the best medicine here which is avalible due to nhs funding.
