Sneaky beggars, Speed Cameras again

Captain Australia Warning to anyone driving into Dubai from Abu Dhabi. I saw a mobile speed camera in a new spot today, just inside Dubai, like 20 metres inside. It was about 50 metres away from the last Abu Dhabi speed camera, just as you round that last right hand turn. Everyone usually doesn't start slowing down until they see the first Dubai speed camera but you'll have to now. I only noticed it because it caught the guy in front of me. I've heard these ones can get you at 130+, which makes it a bit tough if you're slowing down from 160. Buggers!
arniegang If its a mobile laser they can set the limit to whatever they like, so if its 120 theres no reson why they cant set the gun to 121, 125 etc. However in the UK the police standard is speed limit plus 10% speedo error, plus 2 mph. So in a 30 limit the radar is set @ 35 Captain Australia A mate of mine told me he got done doing between 130 and 140 by one of those mobile units. In Oz you usually get 10% leeway, except for in Victoria where they can get you for just a few ks over because they are Nazis. :-) My friend got done there for doing 103 in a 100 zone. arniegang Thats rough on your mate i thought a 10% speedo error was pretty well standard. Captain Australia Everywhere except here. Enforcing the 10% rule here would be considered an economic crisis. ha! arniegang
Dont people defend this in court.? No car speedo is guaranteed accurate especially if the conviction was within 10% of the speed limit. Captain Australia Some people have, but it doesn't seem to have set any precedent. Every now and then some Joe is on a tabloid current affairs show 'proving' that the cameras are not accurate and how he is going to fight it in court but nothing changes. sage & onion
Do you think it would be wise here to try and contest a speeding fine in the court?
