U know what would be fun, skydiving in July !!!
Imagine as u get closer and closer to earth, u feel the heat, the humidity starts increasing, leaving u less air to breath !! u start swearing at the instructor who told u to wear an outfit, and u start thinking, only my underwear would have been enough !!!

Jeevan
Initially no ones going to push you off the plane bushra :) it would be tandem diving wherein a professional dives with you if u read the articles posted in the start of the thread u will know what i am saying :)
J bushra21 oh no, i did read them... im still worried though. cuz i know im crazy and ill be all for it and tell myself to suck it up until half through the jump, then ill probably freak out.
St.Lucifer I would give it a try.. but Jeevan imagine .. u landin head down. hahah :D Jeevan
If i land head down, it will be all over the news - UAE successfully completes a nuclear test   pinoy1 I dreamt about doing this and I actually felt how it's like to free-fall, like feeling my insides floating, etc.. strange since I haven't done it before. I'm off topic. weary_heart hey jeeves, I was just speaking to my friends this morning about sky diving.... I'll try it this coming November. It would be very nice if there's anyone from DF who would like to try it as well. i wanna dive with the cameraman hee hee Jeevan mes in for sure, :) dunno bout others Dubai Knight OK, just to convince you doubters: There is no sensation of height. You only feel that if you are standing on the edge of a building where your brain can regsiter the 3d map in your mind. At 12,000 feet (4,000 metres) there is no connection to the ground and the world just becomes a flat photograph scolling past beneath you. There is no sensation of leaving your stomach behind...the acceleration to terminal velocity takes at least 8 seconds in which you are in 'sensory overload'. There is no feeling of plummeting to earth. You are too high and the ground is a good 80 seconds aways. There is the rushing of the wind in your ears and what feels like a physical force in front of you, which is the air flow. We use that to steer ourselves around the sky. In the freefall time, you are able to control your horizontal and vertical direction and therefore feel a sensation as if you are a bird in flight. Like Superman! As a tandem passenger, there is a fully USPA qualified instructor there with you to whom you are attached by 4 secure points. He is in control. He often has over 10,000 jumps of this type. he knows exactly what he is doing and how to look after you. You will have been fully briefed and undergone a 20 minute training session before getting in the plane. When the parachute opens, there is no sensation of 'being pulled upwards'. This is the illusion created by the cameraman who is still falling whereas you are decelerating. The parachute takes 4 seconds to open in shich time you decelerate from 125mph to just 24mph. Like putting the brakes on in your car and not a hard shock at all. There are always 2 parachutes. In the event of a malfunction (something that these days happens extremely rarely) the instructor knows exactly what to do and can activate the reserve, which opens in less than 1 second and is exactly the same as the main one. At this point...it all goes quiet and the views are breathtaking! You then have the chance to enjoy the parachute ride and even take the controls and have a go yourself. Its easy. Pull the right toggle and you turn right, pull the left one and you turn left. Pull both together and you slow down your descent rate. As you get near the ground, the instructor takes over and brings you in to a safe landing. It is the same as stepping off the curb. There is no downward shock at all. Statistically, you are safer doing the parachute jump than you are being in the car to get you to the dropzone! There are over 7 million parachute descents undertaken globally each year. Last year there were a total of 24 fatalities, mostly to experienced jumpers who were 'pushing the envelope'. This proportion is safer than golf! Me, I have my own parachute. I have nearly 300 jumps since 1984. I have never used my reserve. The worst injury I have experienced...is a broken fingernail! If we want to organise a day in UAQ...let me know! 8) 8) 8) Freefalling Knight bushra21 how many people have died of a heart attack while doing this... im sorry, but i need to know  ^ian^ You make it sound safe DK. Jeevan amazing Dk i guess all the fears are put to rest now :) i look forward to this, lets see how many people have it in them :) J Dubai Knight
I have looked at the statistics. In the last 10 years, there have been precisely 0 deaths attributed to heart failure whilst parachuting. Mind you, if you know you have a heart problem, you will be required to provide a doctors certificate to say you are cleared medically to do it.
The oldest tandem passenger on record...was 101 years old!

Knight bushra21 i dont have a heart problem...im healthy...but, i dont know. i just would think that doing that woould cause someone's heart to stop....hmmm well, you did make it sound a lot safer than the sight..... *continues her walk and thinks about it some more* St.Lucifer I'm tryin it for sure... weary_heart
yeah in Umm Al Quwain... you can even dive clipped to your instructor's tummy!
() Dubai Knight Trust me its safe. I forgot to mention the cost! A tandem jump costs Dhs.850 Video (recommended!) Dhs.250 The video shows the entire training process, getting in the plane, the ride up to altitude, the jump and the landing. Its all edited and put to music on site and you take away a DVD and a very nice certificate to prove you did it! If you want to cary on an learn how to do it yourself. There is a further 'AFF' course (Accelerated Free Fall) which costs Dhs.6000 and gets you to the basic level as a solo skydiver with a licence issued by the USPA.   Knight weary_heart
From where is that price DK? That is a lot cheaper compared to the offer of Blue Banana Dubai Knight
Blue Banana are just an excursion offer company (read that as 'rip-off'). That is the price direct from the club or through me.

Knight pinoy1 wow, thanks for the info DK. Now the trauma from my dream (heh) is gone. I must try it some time.. weary_heart
so it'll be much better if we're going to book our jump thru you DK!!! ;) sniper420 skydiving is cheap in canada weary_heart
but the ticket from dxb to canada is not    sniper420
well go to europe it's cheap there too
