Sitting in Ajman is illegal?

supra Hello Guys... Me and other friend were just sitting near my car parked in Nuaimiyah, Ajman somwhere at 1 AM. Then a white corolla comes and parks behind my car and then two CIDs' come down out of their cars with a flashlight and comes to me and asks these: 1) Licence and car's registration card? - I handed to them. 2) ID Card - Handed to them. When every card and document was fine and upto date, the CID asks me what are you doing here? I told them we came back from dubai's desert (as we did) and then we just came down to chill (smoke) and talk. He asks me couple of times (like 4 times) and he higherd his voice every time, and I said the same answer!? should I lie? Then one of the cids tells the other guy, lets take them to prison... then he asks me you know whats prison? I answered yea! then again asks me! then they were talking to each other and they decided not to take me to prison... then last he said if I see you here again I will take you to prison! then he handed the cards to us... This conversation happend for amost 30 minutes! I knew only english and I could understand arabic but they were talking to me in rude urdu and couldnt talk english! So is it a "crime" to sit in Ajman next to my car with my friend?
Chocoholic Probably because you were loitering, in any country you'd get moved off. And to be honest it's not exactly normal behaviour to sit on the floor next to your car  xty Are you sure they are CIDs? I wonder if we are allowed (without being harrased or arrested) to ask for their ID card if in fact they are not wearing uniforms. Sometimes there are just crooks harrasing and expecting to get some money. Or at least you could take a not of the plate number and report it to police (if they are not really CIDs) Chocoholic Of course you must ask to see their ID and they have to show it to you. Rickydubai You should've asked for their IDs. It is not a crime. Don't worry if you were not drunk or not creating a ruckus at night. desertdudeshj I have been stopped by the CID a couple of times. ( walking about in the early AM hours in Sharjah :D, even got spot checked by the dubai mounted police ! But they were just killing time :D ) First thing they do is show you there ID card and identify themselves. They are never rude and get in your face unless there is a problem. Maybe you looked like a "chump" and some boys wanted to kill time at your expense. And yes even if they were the real deal yes you would be asked to move along unless you had a valid reason rudeboy they will never put you in jail just like that, one it wastes their and your time. And they would have done something much better then putting you in jail, like catching the real bad guys ;). they stopped you or questioned you because it was 1am and they probably found 2 guys sitting next to a car, fishy!!. They probably thought you will be nicking the car so thats why they decided to "investigate" and when they found out that everythings ok they just went away. Obviously they will give you the attitude to show you who is the real boss :D
