Er...what would they do that for? It makes them so much money they certainly won't want to lose the income.

they only Salik that makes sense to remove is at maktoom Bridge... diverting everyone to use floating bridge instead as a free exit is just plain stupid from RTA...

Salik fees are waived for emergency and police vehicles, school buses, government cars, and now recently (as of 12 Dec. 2008), all taxis began to pass under the toll gates for free!
But forget about salik being waived for the rest of us anytime soon, Sheikh Zayed or not!!

Even motorcycles have to have Salik!
I saw one custom bike the other day with the tag glued to the rear mudguard as there was nowhere else it could go!

On FOUR occasions recently since the change to the rules for Salik for taxis, some ba$tard taxi driver has tried to charge me salik fees. When I've complained they've looked sheepish and one had the decency to slap his forehead dramatically and apologise. No tip for any of them.

Its a shame they dont read the front plate - then bikers would get a treat.
