Hello Friends,
Will sending unsolicited applications be counter-productive?
How is it taken in dubai?
Please reply.

Are we talking about job applications???
I get on average about 5 to 10 a week, unless I have a vacancy or am looking to employ someone I shread them!

I'm thinking applications. But u wouldn't be an expat here if you didn't already have a job.
We also tend to shred, as we far too many. Best to do walk ins (depending on field of work/area of expertise) and see if they have vacancies.

good advice above.
we simply don't bother keeping or filing them as it takes to much time and effort, and generally speaking the job market is so fluid here, that by the time a position arrives the candidates who sent in their applications are already employed or have left the country..

we shred unless we have an opening, but it may be worth a try

Well to be honest, I did this before Christmas. I decided I wanted to work in a particular area, looked up companies and sent off my CV with a tailored cover letter for each company. I ended up getting two interviews out of it and one job offer. I would highly recommend it, but do research on the company first and know your stuff in the cover letter. If you show you want to work for them they may be interested. Good luck.
