Hi
I have an interview in London on 5th July for a teaching position at Queen International School in Deira. The problem is I can not find any information about the school on internet. Does anyone know anything about the school, or if there is a website I could look at?
Thank you
Maryellen :?

Never heard of it so I got curious :? ...
It exists is about . The lack of information would bother me. A school should have a website (that can be easily found) at least.
You could try posting the question at .
Or or - might be some more mothers who've heard of it there.
Couple of articles in the Khaleej Times mention it in a list of schools with owner/management conflicts of interest. The list doesn't include any of the more reputable western expat schools.
,
My best guess is don't expect much and bring salt to the interview.
Not directly relevant to your original question but you may find these useful for general teaching information.

- #1609 - school ratings.
- teaching jobs and link to schools list.
- JESS and Chouiefat.
- DAA, DC and AIS brief comment.
#8064 - list of schools/websites
- Al Salam British School and link to colleges.
- Chouiefat and general comments.
- Kings, DIS, Carmel, Chouiefat.
- no teaching qualification.
- Applying for School Places (without correct visas).

Hi Sharewadi, thanks for the reply and interesting information. You are right it sounds suspicious to me and I will have to find out more.

It is a little bit dubious but non the less it does exist althought Sharewadi was correct, there is no website.
Its located near Hamriya Park in Deira and their Dubai telephone number is +971 4 2652600.
I hope you find what you are looking for.
Kind regards

Does anyone know if there are any supply teaching agencies in Dubai or do the schools have there own lists of teachers and should I send my CV to the schools directly?
Oh and what is the money like as back in the UK it pays well but there is a shortage?
Cheers

I know three American high school teachers here and they told me their salaries are between AED7k-AED14K/month with shared accommodation included. However, their working hours are kinda short (like 4 days/week) and all of them give personal tuition at palaces for like AED100++/hr. Hope that helps :?: :!:

Supply teaching will get you probably 250 to 500 dhs per day at a western expat school. Send your CVs to schools directly or if you're coming here anyway, go and visit them.
Most schools tend to arrange supply teaching in-house for short terms (ie give extra classes to teachers not absent) so you may not get so much work here.
Recruitment agencies don't often deal with educational positions.
I think there's a law banning private tuition but no one takes much notice of that.

Supply teaching is done through schools individually and pay per day depends on the school- around 500-600 DH can be expected. A teacher assistant salary is around 3000-4000DH per month-NO qualifications and teaching positions (look up and go to education-list of schools phone numbers and web addresses) depend on if it is an in country appointment or if you are employed from your own country, the latter having perks like accomodation etc.
Private tuition-going rate around Dh150 per hour.
